... the heat, the flying insects with their stingers (and hearing damage from my screaming), and the ANTS.
Have you ever noticed that ants never seem to be in the sink? All those tasty dishes just sitting there, waiting for me to stop procrastinating, but no ants. Why not? They're certainly fit enough to rock-climb up the cabinet to the countertop, and under the toaster oven. It's not that they have the memory capacity to remember the last ant-version of Noah and the flood (particularly since the last time I ran the tap water at full force to do the dishes, Noah was still floating.). Is my cooking THAT bad ? So bad that the only food they'll go for are the under-toaster crumbs or fallen bits under the countertop that DIDN'T make it into my culinary masterpieces? Come to think of it, I've never seen one in the bottom of the toaster oven either. Perhaps that charcoal smell is off-putting.
( Don't show this blog entry to my sons. I can hear the responses now. "Yeah, Mom, if I had to go back to your cooking again, I'd be willing to enter a poisonous ant cup, eat my fill, and transport other crumbs back to the entire clan. Mass suicide is far preferable than another meal from you." )
