 First Post, First Day

So you all need/want that startup information. I am 48 years old, 5'4” and shrinking (My kids and I are convinced it's less a symptom of aging and more that wherever I'm standing, I now make a divot in the earth.), and Monday morning's weigh-in had me at 248.7 tons. Sounds horrific to you, but I haven't even SEEN the 250's in a couple of years ! And I blew right through them without even getting to enjoy it ! Back in September 27, I was recorded at the Doctor at 273, and according to his records, even that was down 6 pounds ! On November 9, I was 270. November 23, I was 263. And on my birthday, at the end of December, the doctor recorded 259! I had broken into the 250's ! So, there's been some progress, if you “want” to look at it that way, but you can see that, left to my own devices and strength, I'm a REALLY SLOW MOVER.

I know, Absolutely KNOW, that if I don't get this thing rolling quicker than that, I will quit and it won't stay off. In fact, I have already given up exercise, or even going out of the house more than once a week since Christmas, which includes no grocery shopping either. So all that last weight loss was pretty much near-starvation, malnutrition, and losing muscle more than fat. All NOT good.

So, I'm lighter than I was at my absolute heaviest, but totally at Square One really, and especially in fitness. You just can't underestimate that area. I seriously can't empty the dishwasher all in one session, doing the dishes by hand is hellish agony from that slight bending over, and I haven't gotten my mail in at least a week because it's downstairs!

So, to put things in a shorter chart form:

Weight:
Original Start: 279 or more (I have seen the eighties, they weren't pretty.)
Sept. 27 = 273
Nov. 9 = 270
Nov. 23 = 263
Dec. 27 = 259
Restarting Now....
Mar. 14 = 248.7

Exercise:
Mar. 14 - walked 1.3 miles, (but in 4 sets of 0.3 each, rather flat, at cemetery)

Chores and Accomplishments:
Mar. 13 = Bought scale, bought deli turkey and carrots, DW detergent. Ran DW.
Mar. 14 = Emptied DW. Bought strawberries, tuna from deli, apples, canned veg. (also cole slaw and potato salad. These were both on an incredible sale, and although I do realize they have mayo, and that potatoes are a “bread”, part of this first section is just to get me to EAT - at all, and frequently. I will be strawberrying to death also, since they were a great sale, too.)

Food Eaten:
Mar. 14 = Turkey sand (est. ¼ pound - expecting to eat the pound in 4 sets), lo-cal mayo, 2 reg. Bread, Seven glasses of water in 24 hours (8 oz ea.), diet bar (South Beach Living, Crispy Meal Bar, strawberries (est. 1/3 pound - expecting to eat lb. container in 3 sets), baby carrots, tuna sand w/cole slaw on it (the deli version doesn't have enough mayo, and this is a taster and more fibrous idea than just more mayo), potato salad. (And sometime between the Sunday evening and this Tuesday dawn, I seem to have er... “misplaced” the last sleeve of the Girl Scout cookies that I haven't had in years. Had to get them out of the way, right? That won't be repeated. Oh, and an estimated serving of dry cereal (I was getting the munchies and that's a good way to do a lot of “munching” by hand with relatively little consequence.) Stayed up all night, had stuff to catch up on (like this blog section), busy today taking friend to Dr. and errands and was going to have to get up early (my excuses).

Notes:
Feeding Miss Fussy is going to be an uphill battle - for YOU.  Here are your parameters, as they stand today:
>1 - I DON'T cook. I BURN EVERYthing, even water.
>2 - Cooking causes dishes. I DETEST dirty dishes. Dishes have been “man's work” in my family for three generations! My grandfather always did them, my father, my husband (the ONLY battle I ever won - and no battle, since he agreed before he married me. My mother was right - again, as usual - “They are on their best behavior before they marry you.” It's downhill after you've been “caught” and “owned”.), and even my KIDS both do all the dishes. I hate dishes because it causes serious back pain now, but I hated them before because I hate wet hands, sticky hands, and greasy hands. I even creep out over crumbs on my hands.
>3 - Anything that includes three ingredients or more is considered “cooking” to me.
>4 - The only spice I understand and recognize is SALT. Pepper is a definite No no, and anything even remotely hot/spicy will be immediately rejected. I'm perfectly fine with the idea of using no spices, flavorings, etc., on foods. Even bland, boiled chicken is perfectly fine, I don't care.
>5 - I have serious “issues” with food. I frankly barely like it at all, even as a concept. And I SO don't like myself enough to feed myself 6 times a day (as one is supposed to do while dieting and waking up the metabolism).  And there was a LOT of food/weight ABUSE in my marriage, even starting at size TEN.
>6 - Food is expensive (at least until someone hounds me enough to gather up all the paperwork necessary to go back to the whoever's and get my food card changed to my new address). And food is HEAVY to carry from car, and up the stairs, and food DIES. Dead food causes worse dishes to wash, and more heavy because you have to haul it out to the trash. I really miss the garbage disposal. I SO wish the Jetsons had managed to make good on the idea of meals with just a pill. Remember those?
>7 - I don't care one bit about variety, in fact, at first, the more punishing it seems, the better it will work. “Rewarding myself” is SO foreign this point, and I'd reject it since I don't have enough RESULTS to reward. (And that's how I am, I do NOT reward “attempts, baby steps, intentions” etc. Just results. The “real world” only recognizes measurable results, so do I. Sigh....)
>8 - So, if we can come up with 2 proteins, 2 fruits, 2 veg, etc. That'd be so much less STRESSFUL, and the kind of punishing “boot camp” experience I seem to be after at this point.
>9 - Fancy, funky vitamins or organic this or that's are gonna get the Veto at this point, too.

Right now I am the proud owner of 5 pounds of deli turkey, a pound of tuna salad, 8 eggs, carrots, apples, strawberries, and whatever canned veg/fruit is still around. And the diet bar thingies.

get a life, long, food/cooking, chores & accomplishments, exercise
