Uh.... Whaaaattt? I had the exact same two reactions as this poor kid when he heard this word at his important National Spelling Bee competition. Totally startled and in disbelief, needing to check what I thought I heard... “Uh, Whaaattt?” That lasted just a milli-second.
And then the Giggles. Giggly, wiggly, jiggly giggles ! Not just because it was at a Proper event like a National Spelling Bee, but the word !!!! It's just SO hilarious, and cute. It's such a shame its definition makes it so hard to use in everyday conversation !
Look, for once I'm not holding out on you in a effort to make you keep reading to the end of my rambling blog entry. In this case, you just HAVE to hear the word pronounced for maximum enjoyment and surprise the first time. That, and the kid's giggling smiling face is so adorable, and when he works to master his composure to get down to the very important risk of misspelling it - priceless to watch him struggle !
