Brrrr! It's FREEZING here today! Yesterday I went for a walk - in the blue sky and sunshine - in SHORT SLEEVES! But today is a "Michigan day" - gloomy, grey sky and freezing, with a biting wind (I suppose. It's not like I went out there to check on the wind. But the blue spruce outside my window is waving, and every time there's wind here in Michigan, it bites. Also literally.)
Glad I went for that walk yesterday. And it's a new month, so that can count as my monthly quota, right ? Now I won't have to go out there again until Spring ! Oh yeah... It's Michigan. It's not truly Spring until almost Summer. Such a lovely state.
I even had to get up and turn up the heat ! I know that's going to backfire. It'll take forever to get warmer, then before it stops, I'll be wanting to turn on a fan.
Where did that sweet young girl go, who went mountain climbing in New Hampshire, trudging uphill for twelve hours on a track of white snow ? Shivering "above treeline" while that idiot struggles to erect the tent in the pitch black of midnight... You don't think I was going to help, did you ? That would involve taking off my mittens ! Besides, it was "supposed" to be just an easy little four-hour hike ! Apparently, the stereotype about mechanical engineers all being good at math has its exceptions, and "mine" was evidently QUITE "Exceptional". There have been times I thought of him as downright "Special". LOL As for that "idiot" comment, that word bounced back and forth through my head for the entire second half of such "wondrous wilderness experiences". Never could nail down who was the bigger idiot, him or me - for consenting to be in that situation in the first place.
Freezing, dreary days like this really affect my enjoyment of my new favorite culinary addiction, too - munching on ice cubes. Hey.... they're the only thing I can cook without burning them ! I HAVE managed to burn water ! Can't walk on it (although I know someone who acted like he ought to be able to, and had the biblical name that fit the scenario, too), but I have burned it. Waitresses look at you a little funny when they come back to the table near the end, to suggest dessert, and you request a big glass of ice and a spoon (so I can spoon out the ice cubes and chew them). (Of course, not as funny as the look I got when I once asked for a second SALAD for DESSERT ! But that was a pregnancy thing, and when you're craving lettuce and Italian dressing, a chocolate cheesecake simply won't cut it. If I were smart, I'd have asked for the cheesecake, and three other flavors, just to see if the weird craving could be silenced. Just in the interest of science, mind you. I could always have the salad afterwards, if I "failed". LOL But I didn't think of that then. Sadly, "true wisdom" doesn't kick in until you are older.)

P.S. I do think I have the capacity to burn ice cubes, too. It's just that I tend to like them “al dente”.
P.P.S. I hope I still have “dentes” for a long time. It'll look twice as weird asking a waitress for a dessert of just a glass of WATER, and the spoon.... so I can “chew it”.
