Dust motes sparkled in the dingy, secondhand air of the thrift shop, giving the young man an entirely specious halo as he twirled, showing off the fit of the suit.
June was amused.
She'd known him instantly for a con artist, probably a thief, and certainly a shameless flirt. Her marriage to Byron had been educational. But she also knew how to tell the difference between a man acting from malice, and one to whom the whole thing was a wonderful game.
Bent was a very different thing than broken.
"Why don't you come over for dinner, Neal?" she said.
