*takes a deep breath of the campfire smoke lingering in her jacket* This weekend was absolutely fantastic. Went out to the middle of nowhere and just relaxed all weekend long. I can't wait to get pictures back. We went out hiking and exploring for hours on end (nothing like jumping over the Coulee and picking your way through random swampy prairie). I also played my first actual game of risk this weekend. I've watched it many times, but never actually played. This time it was unavoidable. I'm glad it was a relatively "quick" game though. (I guess at 2am no one really cared too much about winning.)

Other highlights from the weekend included walking outside to the biffy Saturday morning and questioning the presence of "ashes" in the air... then coming back out from the biffy and realizing it was most definately SNOWING on May 1st! Yup, it actually snowed for quite a while that morning as the first Risk game of the weekend was played. Later when we were out exploring the Little Grand Canyon and the Biggest Rock in the World, it decided to pelt us with a snowish-type substance two more times! Only in North Dakota. *L*

Mmm....I can still taste the delicious food from the weekend, too. Nothing beats meat grilled over an open fire. Of course that begs the question... "Hypothetically...if a bug fell on your plate, would you still eat off it?" and "Is it warm in the middle? I dunno...touch it." Wow, that was definately a weekend to be remembered. Good times, great friends, and fond memories. A wonderful way to finish up another memorable (albeit frustrating) semester.

And to top it all off, as we were sitting at the stop sign waiting to turn back on to Highway 2 on the way back to Grand Forks, Nate looks down the highway and laughs. "If that's my mom's van....." Sure enough, it was. At least she got an early indication that we had indeed survived the weekend at the cabin. *L*
