I've begun roleplaying the character Rowan in an RP thread on some new roleplaying forums I've found. The character is strongly (but not perfectly) based on Culluket and his style of writing. As I re-design Rowan's history to fit this fantasy-based roleplay (Rowan is inspired from the events from the Puppets and Puppet Masters roleplay), I've realized that what I've done is combined Quri and Yag into the same character, and done away with Mycroft completely (as much as I enjoy him. Maybe he'll make a brief appearance).
Instead of trying to re-tell the story already written and abandoned, I've decided that that story already happened (with some changes to major details). Rowan was the unofficial leader of the party that eventually killed and defeated Yag, however knowing that whoever struck the death blow would become the new Yag. To make a long story short, Rowan was aware of the consequence but it became apparent that there was no other choice, and he took precautions. They helped, a little, but ever since Yag's death, Rowan has been fighting to keep his sanity and remain himself.
He lost his left eye during that plot somewhere. I had this great image in my head of Non smiling as he cut it out. Or maybe frowning. Depends on whether Non was ticked off or Yag was acting through him (not respectively).
Anyway I fully intend for Rowan to eventually lose the battle with Yag and lose himself, while Yag takes over and starts where he left off. Ideally he'll die and I'll have to come up with a new character. But maybe his death will finally end my obsession with the Puppets story (THAT WILL HAPPEN).
It's difficult, basing Rowan on Culluket. It's fun, I mean, I really enjoy the character. But having to think about what Cull would do and say is... stressful. I haven't seen the guy in what, a year? About that, I think. He needs to pop online some time. Charlie and I (mentioning Charlie so it doesn't seem like I'm the only one) have agreed that we miss him and that he should drop us a line. DO YOU HEAR THAT YOU LONG HAIRED PRATT?
But I'm glad to have a new place to roleplay and possibly reestablish my popularity in an RP community. Most of the writers are decent, and if any aren't, the forum is highly moderated and I'm sure I could whine about someone who's turning everyone into frogs or dung beetles or something. (That's what godmoders do, right?)
