Summary: a casual dinner date.
The material of the tie is smooth, silky and annoyingly constrictive. Jongin tugs, but makes no move to remove it completely. Such a tiny strip of finely-made cloth costs more than it should, and he doesn’t wish for an angry boyfriend on Christmas Eve.
Speaking of, he mentioned that he would meet him outside of his apartment, but Sehun hasn’t arrived yet. Foot tapping impatiently on the ground in a beat too influenced by impatience to be rhythmic, the tan-skinned male watches as the streetlights flicker on. It’s evening.
“Hey. Did I keep you waiting?” the familiar drawl of Sehun cuts through the air, and Jongin looks up from his mp3 to the other.
Sehun’s expression softens as he smiles at Jongin. Eyes usually dulled by the routine of schoolwork are bright-light, cheeks rosy in the rapidly cooling weather. Jongin can tell he’s taking a tad too long to respond, and just before the trace of a frown ghosts into the shadows of the other’s features he replies brightly.
“No, not at all,” he says, the standard answer for a question such as that, before tacking on “as long as I get to see you eventually, I’d wait an eternity for you, my wonderful prince charming.” Since they’re dating and he can do creepy things like this, he levels a stare towards his boyfriend’s (rather perky) ass, before reaching out and giving it a good smack.
“Hey!” a flicker of surprise flashes onto Sehun’s face and Jongin latches onto the expression in glee.
Clicking his fingers like a bad show-biz presenter, he points to Sehun with a Cheshire grin on his face. “Aha, emotion!” he announces with triumph. By now it’s just a verbal jab. Whilst it’s true most others are fooled into thinking the younger has a limited capacity for expressing emotion, Jongin has known Sehun for long enough to be able to read his expressions with ease.
Snorting, Sehun turns away. “You’re an idiot. Have I told you that before?” He doesn’t forget to thread his fingers through Jongin’s though, gripping on firmly.
With his free hand, Jongin sneakily reaches back. Smack. Slapping the other’s butt one more time, he darts away from the other, hand pulling out of Sehun’s own as he dances a safe distance away. “There’s more where that came from, honey pie!”
He can feel Sehun grumbling behind him, breath ticklish at the base of his neck as he catches up to him and loops a skinny arm around his waist. Sehun squeezes and Jongin does an impressive job of resisting the urge to squirm. “Pet names, is it? I can keep up with that, snookums.” He comments dryly.
Jongin shudders in palpable disgust. “I think my grandma used to use that name… on my teacher.”
Sehun is quiet, and Jongin opens his mouth to ask why before he feels a collision with his clothed butt. Smack.
“Payback.” Sehun snarks, before strolling briskly away. His polished shoes gleam against the nondescript pavement with every quick step.
A slim, tan-skinned hand is raised to his temple as he proceeds to sway on his feet. “The pain, the agony of a slap from Oh Sehun! Oh, save me for I shall soon collapse!” The hand drifts across his head before leading the rest of his body in a limp collapse onto Sehun’s lithe frame.
The tall male rolls his eyes. “You’re being ridiculous. We need to hurry too, or they might cancel the reservation. It was difficult enough booking it for Christmas Eve.”
“Oh?” Jongin perks up, pausing in his melodramatic act before eyeing his boyfriend speculatively. “So, we’re headed to a restaurant, are we?”
Another roll of the eyes. It’s clear his partner is exasperated. “You’ll be headed into a dumpster if you keep going. Be patient.”

The luxurious interior is bathed in brown and red hues with golden accents. Dark, varnished wood crafted into what must undoubtedly be a chair of high value is pulled back carefully from underneath the table of equal styling. Though the carpet is of plush material, Jongin is almost afraid to think of what would happen if he were to make a commotion here.
It’s nearing the end of their meal, and the waiter has just placed dessert on the table plus a refill of the wine of choice for the evening. Though they had been making pleasantries during the course of the evening, it’s now that Jongin chooses to make a comment on the venue of choice for tonight.
“Really? You managed to make a booking here?” He gestures to the flames dancing upon the decorative candles and grins at the suddenly bashful Sehun. “Didn’t know you were this romantic.” He teases. Or rich, his mind unhelpfully supplies, but finance has always been a somewhat risky topic for the both of them and he knows that the joke would only serve to sour the mood.
Sehun reaches for the napkin on his lap, twisting crisp material in his fingers as he responds. “I wanted to do something special. It’s Christmas Eve after all, and we’ve always spent it simply in the past.”
Chuckling, Jongin nods. “Not as if we could have come to such a nice place when we were that irresponsible. We would’ve been kicked out before even setting foot in the place.”
The other snorts. “Irresponsible? You were, but me? Never.”
“Hey!” Jongin says indignantly. A few nearby patrons shoot him dirty looks, and he feels his face flush when he breaks gaze with them almost as quickly as he had met them, staring into the amused gaze of his boyfriend.
Sehun gives a nod in the direction of the other tables. “My point has been made.” He smiles smugly at Jongin before spearing a piece of the apple tart in front of him and popping it into his mouth.
Jongin pulls a face at him. It looks disproportionate amongst the sophisticated and somewhat gaudy setting, but Sehun doesn’t mind.
He just laughs, sips at his wine and continues on with the evening.

Jongin isn’t a fan of ties, but when they stand together, bodies so close he can smell the wine on the other’s lips and see every inch of his partner with startling clarity, he thinks that maybe they’re acceptable on some occasions.
The hand that snakes up to his tie to tug him closer to Sehun seems to think so too.
“Merry Christmas, snookums.” Sehun comments, before silencing any complaints Jongin has with a kiss.
