Title: Mau Loa
Author: quoththewriter
Rating: 18
Characters/Pairings: Danny/Steve/Chin/Kono
Warnings: Foursome, ridiculous amounts of fluff.
Notes: Written to fill a prompt from the H50promptmeme. The prompt was: "Chin/Danny/Kono/Steve, Domesticity: OT4 where they are all in a relationship together and they live at Steve's house. I want all the domestic stuff, like who gets up earliest, who makes the best coffee, who cooks most of the meals, who always leaves the wet towel on the floor, who always falls asleep first watching the basketball game, etc. Could include sex or not, author's choice."

-

Its a surprise to them all that Chin gets up the latest.

"You know you being the Zen Master and everything, I would've thought you'd be all gung-ho, 'rise and set with sun' mentality. But you, my friend, are a slacker amoungst men. If it weren't for the rest of us, dragging your lazy ass out of bed each morning, we would never get our jobs done and the Governor would boot us out on our asses. No more Five-0. Not to mention, the raise in crime rate would be astronomical..."

"All right, all right, brah, I'm up. Geez. How can you be so talkative this early? Just because Steve rises with the sun doesn't mean the rest of us have to."

"What can I say, being woken at the crack of dawn because someone can't keep their hands - or their mouths, for that matter - to themselves, has its advantages."

"Hey, you weren't complaining after I used my tongue," Steve supplies, toeing on his other boot. "And Kono-"

"Kono, too?" Chin mumbles, face still buried in the pillows. "No fair."

"It's perfectly fair. It's not our fault you didn't want to get up and participate."

Steve snickers.

"You," Danny shoves him playfully, "Be quiet. The point is," he continues emphatically, kneeling over the bed with a grin. "Chin here needs to wake up earlier. Isn't that right, Steven?"

Steve matches Danny grin for grin and kicks off his boots before going around the other side. Chin had rolled over sometime during the exchange and fallen back to sleep and now lay helpless and unaware of their plans. So Steve crawls right up onto the bed and settles down beside Chin, plastering himself along Chin's back with a devilish grin. Tilting his head to look at Danny, his hand snakes out and follows the long, lean lines of Chin's bare flesh until it disappears under the covers and Danny's blue eyes go wide and dark when Chin gasps.

"Steve," Chin groans, without opening his eyes. His mouth relaxes into a grin as he bucks against Steve's hand, brushing against Steve behind him as he moves. "Don't stop."

Steve leans down over him and presses a kiss just behind his ear.

"Only if you promise to wake up," His hand jerks once more and then stills, waiting for an answer. Chin holds out for maybe five seconds before breaking with a plea. He opens one eye and finds Danny watching, openly and aroused. "Danny?"

Danny shakes his head and licks his lips, eyes never leaving Steve's hand. "Promise." His voice is rough.

Steve shudders against him, curled warm against his back, and the tantalizing weight of his hand, poised motionless against his cock, is enough for him to surrender.

"Fine," Chin mutters, a little mutinously, pressing desperately into the warm hand under the covers. He shivers, pleased, when Steve's fingers wrap around him again. "But you better make good on your promise, alaka'i."

Steve grins and dips his head to press a kiss between his shoulder blades.

"Some people," he mutters between kisses, alternating kisses and strokes until Chin is writhing pleasantly against him. "Call me kahuna."

"Kono?" Chin mutters, but there's no venom in his voice, only lazy contentment.

Steve levels a look at Danny over Chin's head and says, "she's one of them."

Danny pops the first two buttons of his shirt and resumes watching.

Before long, he's lost his shirt entirely.

-

Kono is already in the kitchen when the three of them finally make it down the stairs. Chin is wide awake now and saunters into the kitchen with an easy grin. He leans in and brushes a kiss across Kono's lips before stealing the mug from her hands and taking a sip.

"Just as I like it." He steals another kiss before handing the mug back, grinning widely.

"Me or the coffee?" Kono asks, rolling her eyes. But there's a smile on her lips and one of her hands lingers on Chin's shoulder.

"Both, though right now, I think I the coffee's winning." He places a finger to her lips before she can protest, but she slaps him lightly on the arm. "You make the best coffee on the island, Cuz. I think you missed your calling."

Danny ambles into the kitchen then, buttons askew and tie undone, and snags a fresh cup of coffee from the counter. "I concur. You," he tells Kono, swooping in from behind to kiss her cheek. "Are a Goddess amoung women."

Kono laughs. "Tell me something I don't know."

"Something you don't know," Steve parrots, ducking into the kitchen with a grin.

Kono laughs, covering her face and says, "Boss, that was awful."

"Totally lame."

"Pathetic, McGarrett."

Steve pouts and looks put out enough that Danny finally takes pity on him and shoves a cup of coffee into his hands.

"Here. Drink this and please, please, keep any other lame retorts to yourself." He shakes his head and mutters fondly, "what am I gonna do with you?"

"What haven't we already done?" Chin adds, ruining the moment.

"Aw guys, again?" Kono huffs in annoyance. "You mean I was down here making coffee while you guys were having all the fun? That's sexist."

Danny nudges her with an elbow. "Maybe it's because you're the rookie."

Kono's eyes light up and her smile turns mischievous. "That's not what you said last night. I believe you called me kahuna."

Steve looks up from his coffee. "You mean you weren't talking to me?"

"Liar." Chin snorts. "When did you pick that one up, anyway, Danny?" he says at the same time Danny chimes in, "Jesus Christ, McGarrett, stop pouting. It is not an attractive look on you."

"I think it's kind of cute," Kono supplies, earning a grin.

"Don't feed his ego." He turns to Chin. "You mean hanging around you three isn't enough? I'm surprised I haven't been force-fed pineapple and thrown into a volcano as a human sacrifice yet."

"Nah," Chin says with a grin, slapping a friendly hand onto his shoulder and letting it linger. "We like you too much."

For a moment the mood mellows out and they stand there, crowded in the kitchen, watching each other in silence. Kono's heart swells as she stares at them all, Chin standing close enough that their shoulders brush, his hand on Danny's shoulder with Steve at his back, watching her. Her heart thrums in her chest, fast and intent like she's riding a big wave and she feels like she's never coming down, but its moments like this, these quiet, perfect moments of peace, that tell her its okay and she knows the three of them will be there to catch her when she does.

-

"Steve, not again! How many times have I told you not to throw your wet clothes everywhere? Wet clothes, that I might add, are full of salt water that drips all over the floor and then one of us, no, no, me, I slip on it and somehow manage to land on my ass every time-"

Danny most definitely does not squeak when something freakishly large and wet plasters itself to his back like a giant, man-sized octopus. He will deny it to the grave.

"You were saying?" Steve whispers in his ear, twining soaking wet arms around Danny's middle to pull him flush against a wall of hard muscle and sea water. Danny makes a noise of protest in the back of his throat - at least, it starts as a noise of protest, but somewhere along the line from his vocal cords to his lips it morphs into something else entirely, and the noise makes Steve grin against his neck. Just for that, Danny struggles.

"Let go of me, you overgrown cephalopod!" He pries Steve's arms from his stomach and flips them over, pretending to inspect them for suckers before dropping them. Steve rests his chin on Danny's shoulder, looking like someone ran over his puppy.

"But Danno," he whines and then gives up talking in favour of trailing kisses up Danny's neck, fingers of his right hand walking up Danny's thigh, and by the time he's reached his belt, Danny gives in, grabbing Steve's hand and placing it on the bulge in his jeans and twisting to adjust his grip and pull Steve down for a deeper kiss. Steve walks him backwards until he hits the door frame and by the time Steve's on his knees with Danny's pants around his ankles, he finds he doesn't give a damn about the water.

Kono suddenly appears at Danny's shoulder, and with Steve's mouth on his dick and her lips on his ear, her tongue doing devious, wonderful things, his world goes white and his body shudders to a stop. When Steve finally releases him, all three of them are breathing hard and Steve snakes an arm up to twist around Kono's thigh, eyes dark and pupils blown.

"You're next," he says and water, what water? Danny kneels down on the floor and makes it his mission to lap every last drop from Steve's skin.

-

Danny sits back in one of the deck chairs on the lanai, hands laced behind his head, and stares out into the sun, completely at peace. There are four chairs now, with enough space between the pairs for a table, atop which sits Steve's tiny grill. Steve stands at the grill armed with a spatula, flipping burgers onto a plate while Kono and Chin race each other in the surf. Their laughter drifts up the beach and soaks into Danny's skin, warm and comforting. He lets his gaze drift from the beach to the man who owns it, watching Steve watch the burgers with a slight wrinkle to his brow, like he's worried they won't come out perfect and he needs them to be.

Danny rolls his eyes affectionately.

"You're such a goof," he says, startling Steve from eye-humping their dinner. Steve looks over at him, frown deepening, like he's trying to figure out why Danny said that.

"You just are," he explains. "A giant goof. Relax, the burgers will come out fine. And if they don't, hey, a little charcoal never killed anybody."

Steve shrugs and flips one of the burgers. "It's not the burgers."

"No? Could've fooled me, the way you were staring them down. You'd think they threatened to smuggle arms into Hawaii or something."

A big, stupid smile pastes itself on Steve's face and Danny blinks.

"What's that for?"

The smile lessens, just a bit. A crease between the brows. Jesus, he's adorable when he's confused.

"What?"

"Your face." Danny waves a hand abstractly. "You know, that look."

Steve ducks his head a little, embarrassed - he would deny it if Danny called him out on it, but he does it, Danny sees it, Danny has seen him do it before and personally, it's ridiculously endearing. "It's nothing."

"C'mon, don't be like that. What?"

"It's just...I like this. Us." He gives Danny that goofy smile, the private gooey one that makes his eyes crinkle at the corners, the one that Danny wants to kiss off his face or maybe catch and keep for later, it warms him all the way through. "Them." Steve nods out to the surf and Danny's eyes follow the motion, looks in time to see Chin and Kono catch a wave, Chin poised on the board with Kono held aloft in his arms. He can hear their laughter from here.

"All of this." Danny's eyes go back to Steve's face. "Sometimes, I can't believe my luck. That I could have you-" Steve's voice catches and he looks away, back at the burgers. Moves one of them onto the plate and checks on the others. "Hell, that was enough of a miracle. It still is." The ocean breeze is cool on Danny's suddenly warm face. "But Chin and Kono too? I-"

"I know. It surprised me too."

Steve stares at him for a long moment, and then says, softly, quietly, "I keep thinking one day I'm gonna wake up and it'll all be gone."

Danny doesn't get to answer. Chin and Kono come running up the beach then, dripping wet and laughing, and Kono throws herself onto the end of Danny's chair, shaking her hair like a dog while Danny moans in protest. The moment is gone. Chin snatches the grilled burger off the plate and eats it greasy with his fingers while Steve protests, waving the spatula like a weapon and Danny looks out into the surf and thinks, yeah, me too.

-

After they eat, they all sprawl out on the beach. Chin commandeers one of the deck chairs, while Kono perches on the arm. Danny's still in his, but he's moved up to make room for Steve, who lounges at the end of it, settled comfortably between Danny's legs. They all split a case of Longboards and are on their second beer apiece. The mood is light, helped by the alcohol and a full stomach, and the night sky blazes bright with a thousand shining stars.

Steve points out  Andromeda and Delphinus and the Big Dipper, and Chin chimes in with some lesser known stars and their stories and Danny remarks that the moon looks the same here as it did in Jersey and for a moment everyone savors the silence that follows. Its like Danny admitted that Hawaii is a little bit like home, and the victory is enough, for now.

Steve leans back into Danny's warmth and wraps a secure hand around his ankle, handing Chin another beer and laughing at something Kono says to break the silence and he feels his heart flood with warmth just looking at them all, together, sitting here on his beach, on their beach, enjoying the stars and one another's company. And he thinks, maybe this is it, maybe we can have forever.

"No Keia La, No Keia Po, A Mau Loa," he says and everyone stops to listen. Chin and Kono stare at him for a beat before breaking into matching smiles, and Danny may not know the words but he understands the meaning and he reaches out to give Steve's fingers a gentle squeeze.

"Mau Loa," Chin and Kono echo.

"Forever," Danny says.

And they're all smiling.
