It's an angry Theresa Cassidy that finds her way into the hospital, through the sliding glass doors, looking and looking for anyone to ask about Tom. The smell, the light, the air, all combining to spell out 'FRAILTY' and 'SICK' in burning letters in her mind's eye.

Why hadn't anyone told her?

-At first glance, Lea's relieved to see Terry there. At second, seeing the look on Terry's face, suddenly the shreds of fine stability are tattered further. She makes a note to self - 'I. Hate. The OR.'

"Another person you invited in, Y?" Browning asks irritably. "You take care of it."

"I'm a fucking syke-EYE-uh-trist."

"He's your patient."

"That you're not letting me see." She spits at him, but really, she's happy Terry's there, even if the mood and the circumstances with certain OR dictators aren't the best.-

Theresa, glad you came. We're about an hour behind thanks to that whoreson back there, but once he's taken care of I'm sure you'll get to see him.

Terry's trained to assess situations quickly. Thank god, there's Lea, looking both angry and briskly efficient. The angry man in front of Lea needs to be sorted.

"Lea....Who's not letting you see who? Tom?"

Theresa, this is our very understanding head of the surgical unit, Dr. Browning, who unfortunately seems to believe there would be a problem with any of us going in to see Tom before the operation commences.

-She turns to Browning.-

Brunsie, this is Ms. Theresa Rourke-Cassidy, and in my opinion letting her and Mr. Cassidy see each other prior to the surgery would be beneficial to both of them.

-She softens upon turning back to Terry.-

It's alright, just a bit of poison-laden hospital politics. Tom's fine, just more than a little nervous.

"Dr. Browning, Tom is my uncle. Will one of ye please tell me what needs to be operated on? Who is the attendin' doctor? What is goin' on?"

Browning, already a tall man, raises himself up a bit - Lea mouths 'god complex' but isn't sure if anyone sees. He starts with the usual pompous tone of people trying to regain authority. "Your uncle's fine, it's a simple gastrointestinal procedure to help combat the damage that virus of his has done to his stomach. It's not a standard procedure, but it's not a dangerous one either. He should be out of the hospital in a few days.

Dr. Nichols will be our attending doctor. You really have nothing to fear."

"Brunsie seems to think," she interjects, "that the visiting policy for the psych patients is all wonky because Tom's not technically a psych ward patient...Brunsie, I want to see that on paper. Go get me that on a goddamn paper."

"I'll have my secretary bring it-"

"Just go fucking get it, you blasphemous, bawling, incharitable dog." As he leaves, she turns back to Terry. "I really do love using the good Bard's insults. Third door down that hall, go quickly, I'll keep him busy."

"Lea, I want to know exactly what the procedure is before I go see him. He didn't tell me anythin' about an operation. I'm as angry about that as I'm worried about why he's to be under the knife."

I'm not entirely sure he told anybody. He might have been trying to ignore it. It's his right to disclose, and I did do some infringeing when I contacted you.

As for what it is, well, I'm no surgeon, but for the most part it's just taking out damaged stomach tissue and replacing it with synthetics. I don't know if he told you he's having a lot of trouble eating, but this should be able to help with that.
