YOU'RE IN MY BODY. YOU'RE IN MY BODY.

oh my god. oh my fucking god.

it took a day. just a day to fall in love with this album. just like with all their albums, it's more of an acquired taste, but fuck. THIS SHIT IS AMAZING!

TELL ME DO YOU STILL FEEL THIS

Max Bemis, you've done it again.

Say Anything's album Say Anything will be on repeat for the next month. as much as i love ...Is a Real Boy and In Defense Of the Genre, this album is so much more cohesive. i finally feel like i can relate to the songs instead of just enjoying them. but boy am i enjoying them.

i think just because i'm bored, i will post the songs in order with a slight review. also, i recommend this band to any person who actually does read this lol.

1. Fed to Death
-this song always surprises me by how short it is. max's voice is very powerful on this song. at first the lyrics are kinda stupid, but it's grown on me. i like the repetition of "THIS IS FOREVER" because it is. nice piano piece at the end too.

2. Hate Everyone
-now i don't particularly care for this song because i think the chorus is kind of ridiculous. the lyrics are very clever though. i think i will continue to skip over it though. i'm never this angry and even if i was angry, this song wouldn't cut it. actually it's okay. whatever. "i guess that everyone includes me" is clever.

3. Do Better
-strikegently said this song was one of the worst of 2009. i will have to disagree. this is a pretty good song. the beat is kind of silly and doesn't sound much like say anything. it's a cute song though. it's nice and almost inspirational in a "beating your head against the wall" kind of way. kind of like you're looking back and realizing you could have been a lot more than you really became. very tight lyrics.

4. Less Cute
-this song is pretty much spectacular. it's written in the point of view of a college girl, which is a nice change of pace. this song is so... intriguing. i don't even know. it is sarcastic and catchy and perfect. some nice horns in the beginning and some seriously interesting social commentary. i love it. "he's like a less cute version of you, but he'll have to do...." perfection. "every time i see your face i die inside" lol

5. Eloise
-it's about getting over a girl. some good emotion in this song. pretty powerful. enjoyable. not my favorite song but it's very pretty and almost a little sad. sounds regretful. i don't know. it's one of those "heart on the sleeve" songs. "you took the world from me" that's pretty extreme. poor max

6. Mara And Me
-another song i really enjoy. the beginning is sort classic say anything. makes fun of the Kings of Leon, which is funny. about halfway through he changes pace with a satisfying line "everything that you do keeps me running back to you" i love that line. pretty standard say anything. also "fake players are the ones who play the game" and "phallic sense of self" clever.
7. Crush'd
-definitely my least favorite song on the album. too personal and too cliche. it's hard to listen to and i don't like it. only a few good lines. the tempo and the music is odd. i don't like straight up love songs.

8. She Won't Follow You
-so begins the good part of the album. this is catchy as fuck and really fun. i love the little background voices. also very emotional and powerful. the lyrics are beautiful. "meet me in the back room, back to back, breathing hard..." i love it

9. Cemetery
-another amazing song. tied with "she won't follow you" and "young dumb and stung" for my favorite song. this song is gentler and just generally pretty. the end gets really strong and emotional. about heaven or an afterlife and being with a person even after you die. "you're in my body" is such an amazing, simple line. it's prefect. "tell me do you still feel this" truly a testament to being in love forever.

10. Property
-a song about an abusive relationship told from the perspective of the abuser. clever and catchy. it's kind of a funny song. it's very witty but also sort of sick. pretty good overall except i hate the weird laugh at the end

11. Death For My Birthday
- i didn't care for this song at first, but after reading the lyrics i do like it. not my favorite because the chorus is kinda silly but the meaning behind it is very clever. nice twist at the end. "i love life but life has a boyfriend" is also pretty clever, i guess.

12. Young Dumb And Stung
-probably my favorite song. very Say Anything. so fun and catchy and powerful. it's all about rebellion and not caring what other people think. i think it's fantastic. "death is a crutch for me and mine" is perfect.

13. Ahh Men
-about religion with, surprisingly is fine with me. another love song. but this isn't uncomfortable. this is perfection and beauty all wrapped up in one song. "can i lie with you in your grave" that's the kind of love song i like. it's so endearing and emotional. he cares for his wife so much he'll love her even after he's dead. his voice just escalates through the whole song from soft and gentle to strong and powerful sincerity. again, pretty damn perfect.

14. Narcissus (Bonus Track)
-i don't care for some of this song. i think it's a demo. it could have been better if the "i'd rather die" wasn't so emphasized, i think. but then the meaning of the song might be lost. it's interesting though. the line "this kiss could be upon my own lips" i think i get it but i'm still working on it.

15. I Love You More Than I Hate My Period
-this song is told from a fan's point of view. maybe not a say anything fan, but that's the idea. he talks about kidnapping the singer and stuff like that. it's another sarcastic satirical song. it's pretty cute and funny. a little creepy but it effectively pwns any creepy fangirls. the end of the song is kinda stupid. but lyrics are solid in general. "he will take my fire and burn instead" is interesting.

16. I Could Be President
-kind of like Do Better but without being inspirational. "i'm afraid of sleeping" which is scary. someone mentioned it's like Insult to the Dead but it's okay because this song is very honest and i like it. it's pretty catchy and it works well. another standard Say Anything. "if only i were present then, i could be the president" so it's pretty much about regrets.

there are also demos and they are really good but i don't need to review them too lol.

review, music, say anything, album
