And profanities were flung

OK day at the office.

We had a new intern, whom I took it upon myself to train, which took all of about 15 minutes because we don't actually do anything anyway. Kid's name is Freddy, from London. Previously had interned for some important MP and his parents somehow know Ron Wyden. Nice guy, anyway.

I actually had to go out and seek assignments today. I was fabulously bored. I managed to find two manual labor tasks (including re-assembling the Oregon flag in the Senator's office).

RW was out of town for most of the day, when he finally came back in to the office, there were several people who needed to talk to him, but he ducked out to the gym and people were pissed because they needed to go home. Our Legislative Director was actually dropping F-Bombs rather loudly. It was kind of fun!

I actually called Barbara Lee's office today to try to get in touch with her MIA scheduler. No luck.

Came home to find the hellions (Makalah, Maurice and friend Cari, 4 year-old boy) running amok on the block. I took them in and entertained them for a while with Caroline's help. They were particularly ornery today. It was a major pain to keep track of them. At one point, Maurice actually ran out into the street, scaring the shit out of me, needless to say. My scolding seemed to have no effect and I refuse to take the more physical measures that their mother and Caroline take. C says that they are "ghetto children" and have survival and independence ingrained in their psyches. I don't doubt it at all. They've grown up differently than I have any reference for.

Simultaneous to all this, I was trying to make dinner for myself (as well as the spawn) and get down to the Mall for a showing of All the President's Men. I finally made it rather late with dinner in hand. It was pretty cool to see it, having never seen it, especially against the backdrop of the Capitol (considering the subject matter).

Biked home, made an entry into my LJ.
