Long Time

Damn, I neglected this for a while, over a month to be exact. Let's see, what has happened since I last posted. I went to Yosemite about 3 weekends ago and it was very very nice. I went up the mist trail and got soaked from the, guess what, the mist! The next day I went to see the giant sequoia which were also cool. A few days before the trip to Yosemite, there was a blackout when Johnny , Matt, and I got back to the apartment we had beer. To make a long story short, I woke up on the bathroom floor. Then stumbled back to bed.

The next weekend I bought a used bike out here. I've been adding things to that recently. I got the helmet, shoes and cleats. Just today I got gloves and gel cork for my handlebars. I've been riding to work most days and it is fun. I will probably get a jersey the next time I'm at the bike store. I look forward to riding around Livermore, since it is a pretty nice place. The only problem is that it takes a little bit to get out of town and the traffic which is a pain because I'm attached to my bike. That same weekend I went to San Francisco with Mike and ended up walking around for a while. We walked up hills and down hills, walked down the Embarcadero, had bad section of San Francisco.

This past weekend we went to Hearst Castle which was also amazing and out of this world. We went there along Highway 1 which is really nice, but curvy. On the way back we stopped to see elephant seals which were HUGE!!! We also stopped in Monterey, we wanted to find a beach, and we were there for like ten minutes. then we had Sushi and I had sake, both of which were awesome. One of the funniest/entertaining things that happened was when Mike, my room mate, had a piece of sushi with a gob of wasabi that was about 75% the size of the piece of sushi. The look on his face was priceless! He was bright red.

As for work, things are starting to pick up, which is exciting. I feel like I'm accomplishing something. It doesn't feel like I've been here for...over 5 weeks! Overall I am enjoying California, I haven't decide whether I absolutely have to come back. I don't know if I can say that for a while. The weather is very nice and the variation of the weather with a small distance is also cool. It can be 90 where I am and then a 45 minute train ride away is 60.

Speaking of 60 degree weather...I'm starting to get really excited about grad school and fall in general. Grad school is going to be a new experience for me in a new place. I am also excited to visit people I miss who will be in Rochester. Also, fall is my favorite time of the year. It has some of the coolest "holidays" like Halloween and Thanksgiving, my personal favor. I will be doing Halloween things this year, that's for sure! I also hope to get a car at some point. I will still ride my bike and use the bus to get from my apartment to school. The car would mainly be for things where the bus or bike is not feasible, like groceries.

This weekend I am probably going to go to San Francisco again. I am also looking forward to seeing A Scanner Darkly this weekend. I also want to go wine tasting, since Livermore has a few wineries around. I am also looking forward to flying back to the East coast for Emily and Joel's wedding. I will also have a dentists appointment when I am in Elmira. It will be nice to see Brian, Jeff, and everyone else that enjoyed the festivities the past week or two, which I am rather disappointed to have missed! It will be kind of disappointing that my sister won't be in Elmira when I am. She'll be in New Jersey at Stevens for a summer engineering program. After that, I fly back to California for a little over two weeks, then it back home. Wow that was a long post.
