Day 8 of our Australian Coach Tour
We woke up early and got ready to go, bags to be outside the room by 8 and to leave at 9. We were ready, so went ahead and had breakfast at 7 with time to relax before leaving. We stopped at a viewing place to see Mount Conner again. Some climbed a dune for that and then saw another salt lake on the other side of the dune. We already had pix of salt lakes, so we stayed on the coach in the cool air.
I haven’t spoken about the weather, I don’t think. Most of us pulled out the short pants by day 3 of the tour. The mornings were cool, but the rest of the day quite warm. The mornings aren’t really that cool anymore. Ray put on shorts this morning, nearly causing me to faint dead away. :D
The high today was 36 C. For us foreigners, that’s about 92. We drove to a place called King’s Canyon and there were two walks/climbs that could be taken, but several of us elected not to go due to the temperature or other physical problems. There was a shelter and benches with backs that was pretty comfortable with a pleasant breeze. The flies weren’t so bad there, either. Those little buggers could make a person suicidal!!!
No internet or cell service again. Grrrr Guess we're a little spoiled.
We're spending the night at a remote hotel in a beautiful setting. It would be nice to spend a couple of days here. Again, each room has a terrace and it looks out onto the pool. Very nice and quiet. We may have seen a dingo on the way back from dinner tonight. It looked like pictures we've seen, but no one was there to ask. We haven't seen a lot of animals in the wild at all, but they mostly don't come out in the heat of the day.
Tomorrow we head for Alice Springs. Woohoo! It'll mean another couple of days in the same place. The tour guide said she knows of a quilt shop there. :D
G'nite.
P.S. Posted late again. :(
