Mark Rylance played the murder suicide victim Dr David Kelly in The Government Inspector, which wasn't that bad until you realised that twenty years ago, the equivalent of this was Death on the Rock, and suddenly it looked impossibly complacent and lightweight. Much of his work has been in the theatre, most recently as artistic director of the legendary Globe Theatre, but he has made the occasional film, such as Prospero's Books, Institute Benjemina and Intimacy, in which he performed unsimulated sex, in what seems to be a recurring theme.
