In Case You Haven't Heard...

OWL (Online Wizarding Library) is going away at the end of April. Here's the official announcement on the OWL opening page.

Global: Tauri.org is closing on 4-30-2012
As of 4-30-2012, tauri.org will be closing - for several reasons, not the least of which is hardware. The machine has been running 24x7 since the site first went live, and has clearly been showing its age. It will continue to be checked and rebooted daily until the end of the month. At that time, it will be powered off. Any information needed from the site (stories, reviews, etc.) must be collected before that time.

EDIT 4-10-2012: Server stability continues to drop; it was rebooted 3 times today already. If it continues at this rate, it may not last until the end of the month.

As you can see, the servers are having major problems and may not even last that long! For updates and other information, check owl_tauri.

Authors, PLEASE consider checking your OWL stories to be sure you have copies of your work or that they are all archived elsewhere. If you are having problems accessing OWL and need help, please comment below with your penname on OWL and I'll be happy to do what I can to help by making copies of your stories for you. There are many archives available where you can post your stories. We'd love to see you at any or all of them!

Invitations to archive:
The Petulant Poetess has an invite here.
WIKTT Archives on The Masque has information on joining here.
An Archive of Our Own - Lots of people on LJ have invitations to offer admittance to this archive. juniperus and juno_magic should be able to put you in touch with someone with an invite to AO3.
Granger Enchanted welcomes all OWL authors. Check here for more info.
Sycophant Hex has invited authors to post all their OWL stories at the various SH Archives. Click here for more info.

And don't forget about FFN.

Now's the time to backup your stories or copy your reviews from OWL. We'd hate to see your story lost!

If you know an author archived on OWL who is not very active in the HP fandom right now, please consider contacting them to be certain they know what is going on with OWL. We'd like everyone to have the chance to save their stories.
