i spent a large portion of today doing something that really pissed me off. i went to update the blog on my domain which i never use (is there a way to crosspost from blogger to LJ or vice-versa?), and it was erroring out because i had insufficient disk space. o rly? so i logged in to my cpanel and find out that i was indeed out of space. why? because i had so many unread spams that it was taking up a substantial portion of my disk space. 308 megs, to be precise. wtf? so since my server's mail program provides me with no "delete all" or "empty mailbox" option [that i know of], i had to delete about 30,000 60,000 [eta next day: i neglected to check my catchall account, only my personal one!] spam messages very slowly. what has the internet come to?
many of us rock ebay, so i wanted to bring this to your attention if you haven't heard of it already. new ebay fraud:
viral porn trojan horses. if i didn't like the internet so much i'd probably stop using it. i spend almost as much time preventing spam and popups and fraud as i do looking at stuff i want to see. jesus.
on a semi related note, i was reading
lj_design in efforts to find out how to better work with my new template, and came across someone who was doing
pay per post. i signed up! i couldn't help it. she made like $138ish dollars in only a few weeks. just for writing about stuff. i think i'm probably going to do it. so don't be mad if i'm posting a lot of random things. there are a list of opportunities, and you just write about the site, drop some links, and get paid via paypal. it's a little spammy for those reading the blog in question, but i'm not going to write about BS online poker or diet pills. you should really check it out if you need some extra paypal cash. $120 will come in REALLY handy since the
sheep and fiber festival is coming up really soon. what do you think? is this service ruining the internet?
oh, one more thing. I HATE IT when people randomly interject "LOL" into sentences when you KNOW they're not actually laughing out loud. did someone on my friends list recently post this same complaint? or did i read it elsewhere? oh man, whenever i read "so tonight bob and i went out to dinnner LOL and it was really fun!" i think i'm going to flip out. i actually get very angry. it's mostly in communities that i read this because i would never add someone as a friend who's enough of a jackass to do this, but i get it at least once a day. rage.
i was just sitting here and ben was holding this magazine up in front of my face, so i took it and threw it across the room.
he then took my mouse and put it on the floor and said, "try to use the internet now!"
so i said, "i'll just use my touchpad?"
and he's like, "turn it off."
and i said, "i can't."
we didn't know what else to say so he just gave my mouse back.
