ooo hooo ooo

sooooooooooo it's been a while! but i'm all moved into my new location and have finally had time to play with some fiber. i need to do a ton of dyeing but i only have one dyepot and no measuring spoons, so i have to wait till i go back home and swipe some from my mom.

first of all, here's my new address for your records:
miss amber g
2049 barnsboro road
apt Y16
blackwood, NJ 08012

second of all, i'm participating in the handspun swap on craftster, so i've had to get something together for my partner. i said i was going to do 3 yarns, one single, one plied, and one coiled novelty affair. i knew exactly what i wanted to do for the coily one. the other two i wasn't so sure about. she has my exact same tastes in colors, and was totally open to whatever i wanted to do, so here's what i've got so far.

the batts for the coiled one. merino, silk, tons of angelina (that i didn't photograph well).

done! natural colored parts plied politely with pink thread, then the pink parts are humongous smooshy supercoils of love and justice. i was looking at it thinking, i would be delighted to receive this! and i sorta don't want to send it, so that means it's a good one. to me.

yes. the strips there were dyed with aurora borealis as the inspiration, and will be plied with the sparkly fabulous batts. again, i feel great about it.
ETA:

i couldn't resist. the pictures are awful but that's because it is night time. the SPARKLE is what you need to take from this experience.

so what do you think? what should the single yarn look like? i'm trying to do something completely different for each one colorwise, and her favorite colors are greens and purples and blues, so i want to do maybe a bright single in those shades. perhaps handpainted. hmm.

anyhoo, i'm convinced that yarnwench's zip and my razzy are somehow related. i'm wondering if zip also enjoys the comfort and sophistication of the shark fin?

can you see it?

yep, there it is.

i don't know what is razz's problem. he always gives himself a fin and just walks around with it like it ain't no thang. my mom is convinced that he does it to look intimidating, but it's really just funny.

doesn't it amaze you how a fly, with all of the huge earth that there is out there, can make it into your front door? then on top of that, now it's in a huge apartment. where does it end up but right on your face/hands/computer screen. unbelieveable.

jessica and i are headed to smithville tomorrow so i can spend some gift certificates i've had since christmas. they better not have expired. there is this coffee place there called cook's corner (i think you can order from them online), and they have the best flavored coffees i've ever had. they have coconut and banana, both of which would blow your mind with yum. those are my faves. but they'll have other limited edition flavors in smaller packets such as creme brulle (brulee?) (sp?) and i can't wait to buy $25 worth of gourmet coffee. there's also a soap shop there and the soaps are the best i've ever used. oh i can't wait. heat considered, i can't wait.

finally, i've turned my cousin into a fiber addict! i taught her to spin around thanksgiving time and she's been so excited about it since, but we haven't been able to spend any good time together. this sunday she's coming down to spend a night and a day with me dyeing, carding, and spinning. it's weird how we sorta had to get a little older before we realized how much we have in common.

that's all! a much needed update from me. i am alive, don't worry. how are YOU? ♥
