My new car smells to death like moth balls. I'm actually allergic to mothballs so I didn't know it smelled like moth balls. I thought it smelled like engine, so I guess I lucked out. But I want to get rid of the mothball smell

I read a while back that if you leave a bowl of water with lemon out for 24h, it'll absorb smells around the house. The same might be true for mothball smells?
I guess because of my allergy I'm not used to the smell and can't say I care for it. Also, *I* end up smelling like mothballs which isn't fun on a night out.
Oh, maybe it's just what I think. It's not one of those universal facts. I tend to associate the smell of moth balls with old people. And old clothing.
Bingo! As in, old clothes left in cupboards for decades, festering with mothballs to repel the moths over all that time (although I'm not sure if that actually works).
I was just going to say, it must have belonged to an old couple. Maybe try and change air filters and such to, alot of odor can come throught the vent system for A/C and heat (you know that nicotine smell stuff when u turn the a/c on in a smokers car deal) Once you make it your own, it will take on your own smell.
