My one LJ tradition.

Dec 31, 2009 14:47

The thing I do every year: The subject of the first LJ entry of each month of 2009.

Let's see how this turns out - I've been pretty absent from LJ this year compared to others.
(song names/artists for corresponding lyrics are italicized. my comments are below each month.)

January: I know my LJ has been severely lacking in content lately, but...
Ahh, the stage of life where I didn't have anything to write about so I did a bunch of those narcissistic myspace survey things.
February: Think I know where you belong... Think I know it's with me (You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift)
Aww, my football success! I'm looking forward to that again this year.
March: Where I've been the past few months:
Dance videos! Lots of hard work all coming together. This year will be even better.
April: You think I procrastinate baby, but I think I'm taking my time (IfULeave - Musiq Soulchild & Mary J. Blige)
Life updatey-ness. In 2009 I ran my first 5k! Yay for trying new things this year.
May: No entries. :[
Another new year's resolution: write in this thing more. Hopefully with more substance.
June: Why I've been MIA
I posted a lot of quotes this year.
July: After Awhile by Veronica A. Shoffstall
... And poems.
August: No entries. :[
September: So long, sweet summer... (Age Six Racer - Dashboard Confessional)
Ooh, my positive attitude entry. Love it.
October: (no subject)
What is this? Oh, another quote.
November: today, via facebook chat:
Yay for posting things on LJ that made me really happy so I can remember them later and smile.
December: On Happiness
"The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." I hope I remember that (and have all of them) for as long as I live.

THE 2009 RECAP
This year I:
- Spent my first new year's with friends (not family - though I did spend some time with the fam earlier.)
- Started the winter/spring semester out with some self-destructive decisions, but learned my lesson. :]
- Participated in "THE GAME" with my friends... and then we all vowed to never play again. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. :P
- Discovered my football skills as a rockin' defensive end
- Played a game of basketball for the first time. Yeah, I'm not so good at that.
- Ran my first 5k!
- Spent my first summer away from home
- Flew on a plane by myself for the first time!
- Got my first apartment
- Got a new car! (Well, my dad's old car. But still.)
- Turned 20! WHOA. No longer a teenager.
- Decided to give choreographing a try. We'll see how that turns out in 2010.
Wow, what a year for independence 2009 was. I love it.

I'm going to my first New Year's eve party EVER tonight with Laura in East Lansing. Don't get me wrong, I have fun sitting at home with the fam too, but I'm young and I want to try new things. Yes, I am justifying myself because my mom is trying to guilt trip me. It's kind of working. But I will stand my ground! I am young and defiant! I cleaned my room! Huzzah! Can I get a huzzah? :P

Happy New Year, everyone.

My goals for 2010:
Good grades, good time management, good outlook, and a stellar MCAT score.

goals, reflection, college: year 3
