0567 [year in review]

Dec 15, 2009 11:03

Here we go. This is probably the biggest, most important year of my life thus far (excluding 2006, when I began to follow Jesus). It was frustrating, scary, and also completely wonderful. Here it is in review:

What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
I had my first kiss. (and then many, many more)

Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't remember what they were. I usually don't make them.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! Jody gave birth to Sofia Loretta Vitarelli.

Did anyone close to you die?
No.

What countries did you visit?
None. :(

What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
From last year's meme: Ukrainian hugs, and the legitimate ability to rest my head on Mike's shoulder whenever I so desire.
Currently, I want to have lots of sex with my husband. And I'd love to see my Ukranians.

What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Friday, October 16th. It was the day Mike proposed to me.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Building a relationship with the man I love, and allowing God to make me into a good girlfriend / fiancee / future wife.

What was your biggest failure?
Letting myself be controlled by my depression.

What was the best thing you bought?
I helped Mike pick out an engagement ring. :) Also, my depression meds were the best investment ever.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Dad was an amazing deacon; the Reverend and Jody quit the church to start a new church! Mike and I grew in the Spirit in love. My sister continued to impress me with her Christ-like-ness. And my mom and I had some great talks about Predestination... she's coming a long way. And Bill and Kim helped Mike and I out with so many things.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My church, for the second year in a row.

Where did most of your money go?
Gas, Wegman's.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Mike.

What song will always remind you of 2009?
The Thief - Brooke Fraser.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? HAPPIER!
ii. thinner or fatter? THINNER!
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer? It's a toss up.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading the Bible, building my own relationship with God. Also, writing. And getting up early. I really, really should have done more laundry.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Trying to make myself happy.

How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family and Mike and Mike's family.

Did you fall in love in 2009?
YES!

How many one-night stands?
None.

What was your favorite TV programme?
30 Rock!

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. I am very, very disappointed with my church.

What was the best book you read?
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Sandra McCracken! And Caedmon's Call!

What did you want and get?
The love of my life.

What did you want and not get?
From last year's meme: A QUANTIFIED RELATIONSHIP.
Currently, SEX WITH MIKE.

What was your favorite film of this year?
Hal Hartley's movies, and Boyz N The Hood.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
From last year's meme: I cried, got nervous, broke plans to kayak, ate a sub with my mom, had cookie dough ice cream, bought a converter for my turntable, came home with a headache and nausea, went to bed at 5pm. I was 19.
This year: I cried a lot, swore at Mike, broke my commitment to give Gary S. an interview about my church and how screwed up it was, worked at Peterson's selling candy while dear Chris went and gave the interview for me, went to Wegman's to buy salmon and made an awesome simple salad with salmon for Mike and I. Then I went to the church for a "Feedback Session" with Gary S. and came home, opened presents from Amity and my parents and went to bed. I was 20.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Focusing on GOD!

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Boho for everywoman.

What kept you sane?
Mike and The Reverend.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No one. Just Mike.

What political issue stirred you the most?
Healthcare (why can't we have a one-party system?!).

Who did you miss?
My Ukrainians.

Who was the best new person you met?
Tony.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
God wants is to find pleasure in Him.

Quote a song lyric.
Your eyes are full / full of the future of us (Brooke Fraser / The Thief)

:) Praise God for this amazing year.
