Summary Kyuhyun's first drink.
chapter three
The next night I take Kyuhyun out for his first drink--a sort of rite of passage, I suppose. It's easy to find a willing victim (even though she doesn't know that she's going to be the victim). We stand before a bus stop, where the bulletin displays the buses' schedules as well as a map of the city.
"Study the map," I tell him, and then a gaggle of girls in short skirts and tall boots approaches.
"Excuse me," I say as they pass, careful to place a gentle hand on the nearest girl's arm. She stops and gives me a once over before nodding at me.
"Yes," she says distastefully.
"My friend--" I pat Kyuhyun on the back and he looks up, confused, from the map-- "and I are looking for a certain street. Would any of you be able to help us?" It only takes a smile from my lips and eye-contact between the girl and me before she is under my spell. Humans are so easily manipulated.
"Oh course," she replies, her voice soft and breathy. Her gaze is unfocused as she takes my wrist. "You girls go on ahead; I'll catch up in a minute." She waves the others on, and they look back with worried glances as they walk away.
Once her friends are out of sight, I say, "I think it's this way," and lead her and Kyuhyun to a dark alley between a music store and a book store. She sits down on an abandoned box and waits, her eyes blank.
"Feeding doesn't have to be painful to the victim, Kyuhyun."
He looks at me, eyes wide. He's paler than he should be.
"Come, now," I try to reassure. "If you do it right, she won't even remember anything at all."

He didn't do it, right, not really, because in the morning the girl will have two pinpricks in the side of her neck and a slight bruise, but she won't remember our faces or what happened. I tell myself that he'll learn, in time, to make the markings disappear with the memory.
Donghae returns a little after we do, a bruise on his neck like the girl's, but otherwise unharmed.
"What happened?" I ask him, but he turns away and retreats to his room. Not even a simple greeting, this time.
"Is he always like that?" Kyuhyun asks me. We are sitting beside each other on the couch, watching the news in the hopes of gleaning more information on the murderer--"The Vampire Files"--or some other such nonsense.
"Yes."
"Maybe he should see a psychologist? Maybe he's depressed," Kyuhyun adds helpfully.
"And what would he say to the psychologist, Kyuhyun? 'Hello, my name's Donghae, and I'm really, awfully, depressed at the fact that I live off other people's blood and that I can only leave the house at night, because I'll burn up--literaly--in the sun'?"
"Well, I guess not." He sits back, deflated. I'm about to apologize at my sarcasm, but then I hear Shiwon and Hankyung arguing even before they open the door.
Hankyung storms in first, like he has for the past few days, saying through clenched teeth, "I didn't realize that you would want some pretty little virgin all to yourself!"
I notice that his eyes are still blue and his canines still long and sharp.
"I just need my space, sometimes, Hankyung," Shiwon mutters, throwing me and Kyuhyun a dark look, as if we're intruding upon them, or something.
Hankyung turns toward us and his eyes are so light that Kyuhyun shrinks back in surprise.
"Sometimes?" Hankyung repeats. "All, right, fine." And he knocks into Shiwon's shoulder roughly as he rushes right back out the door.
"Hankyung!" Shiwon calls after him.
I hear Hankyung shout, "I'm giving you your space!" in the hall and Shiwon hangs his head.
I rise cautiously from my seat on the couch.
"Shouldn't we go after him? It's nearly daylight."
"He'll be back," Shiwon says, more to himself than to me.
But he doesn't come back.
We watch the sun rise on the news, and Hankyung still isn't back, even though everyone else has already returned.
"The sun's already risen; you can look for him later," Eeteuk tells Shiwon when he tries to leave.
Even on the small screen, the sun is too bright, and Kyuhyun has to turn the television off.

[AN] *_* I was supposed to be writing the Kibum/Kyuhyun aspect but Shihan has creeped its way in here.
