an apology, of sorts
Very recently, I was accused of plagiarism. I'm just outright surprised. You (I don't want to name any names, unless you want me to) are accusing me of taking your ideas and developing them/crediting them as my own. First of all, I just want to make clear that I'm not trying to make you angry by posting this; it's only an explanation.
So, I read your fics that you referenced after you posted them in your comment in my fic. I'll admit, they do hold the same themes, but I can't say that I took those ideas from you, because, honestly, I didn't read them. It just so happens that we get the same ideas at around the same time. If you don't believe me, then so be it, but I am telling the truth. Perhaps I should start posting my ideas as soon as I get them, then.

All right. So I suppose you can expect that in a few weeks. But, I'm safe, now, right?
I might also mention that I haven't had my computer for the tail end of January and all of February, and, though I did make quick posts, I didn't read anything on the lj comm, Hug.
In fact, the AIDS fic that I wrote took two weeks to write. I checked the date of your story, and it was posted on March 4, and I posted mine on March 5. You might think it's suspicious, but I can't write anything longer than a drabble within a day. I started writing the fic in the middle of February, when I was busy being deprived of any fanfiction at all.
The ideas that you think I took from you are AIDS and deafness. I'm sorry if this offends you, but these ideas circulate in the fanfiction world all the time. Besides, I'm normally pretty...depressing when I write, and so what's more depressing than AIDS for homosexuals, and deafness for singers? There are only a limited number of ideas/themes, anyway, and I'll give anyone a medal who can think of something truly original.
Perhaps, then, I should have included these disclaimers in my fics:
Disclaimer: I do not own these ideas. These ideas are inspired by/developed from You, the doctors who discovered AIDS, the monkeys in Africa who carry the HIV virus, everyone who's ever died from AIDS, and the AIDS virus.
Disclaimer: I do not own 'deafness.' In fact, I can hear. These ideas are taken from/inspired by You, people who cannot hear, and the eardrum.
I think I might have been a bit facetious on that one. Sorry.
So, anyway. The main point is that I cannot offer you an apology on plagiarizing, because I didn't do it. Thus, the apology would be insincere, and I don't think you want an insincere apology.
I can apologize, however, for not paying attention to fics on Hug and for not checking that my fic was anything like other fics in the comm. So, sorry.
I think that it's the most that I can do. I'm sorry if you feel hurt, and I'm sorry if you feel like this apology is not enough.
