Exactly one month ago I started feeling strange. I was feeling sick every few days and missing work a couple of days each week. I suddenly turned into a hypocondriac, worrying that I had some strange tropical illness or parasite. (I was frightened enough to go to the hospital to have my blood tested for malaria and dengue) It turned out I had cytomegalovirus, which is like mononucleosis, a virus that severely weakens your immune system and leaves you feeling weak, tired, achy, and irritable. This is why for an entire month I have been pretty inactive. The good news is that now I am feeling better (for real this time), which is a relief because I think it was making me feel REALLY emotional and crazy.
Oh, and by the way, the trapeze lessons never continued. For one thing, I was in no state to be swinging around like a circus monkey. But also because the teacher we found left Quito to go to Argentina. Sad... I'll just have to find a different activity. I'm thinking modern dance...
