Phoenix's wiki~[As a brief note; I played him for a couple weeks wayyyy back when. I'd like him to keep his memories, even if they aren't much, just so he's already familiar with Luceti and how it operates.]
Personality: Once upon a time Phoenix Wright was a well-meaning (some may call him naive) young man fresh out of law school and eager to be a hero to innocent clients accused of murder and other ghastly things. He was a little bit dorky, pretty awkward, but sharp and with his head on good and tight. As he proceeded through his career and gained popularity through his stunning success he got a little more well-rounded. Lost some of that naivete and gained some wisdom along the way. He still tended to be horribly trusting though, and put every ounce of his heart and soul into having faith in his clients. He also tended to be rather easy-going, and made friends with hyperactive people that generally dragged him around into doing things. A lot of his decisions are influenced by the actions of others, and when left on his own he tended to be listless.
This changed when he was unknowingly provided falsified evidence and disbarred from practicing law. In a court before his peers every lawyer voted to revoke his badge, save for the man responsible: Kristoph Gavin (not that Phoenix knew he was the one responsible at the time).
Phoenix makes it obvious that he adores his adopted daughter Trucy, and that without her he probably would've fallen onto much darker times. Throughout the game the player sees them support each other, and while his dependence on Trucy probably isn't severe enough to ruin him if he were to be without her it's clear she kept him from turning into something that could have been much worse.
As it is, Phoenix becomes rather manipulative and secretive in his later years. He has no problem using others to further his own goals, though he generally is careful not to put people in harms way when he does so. He plays up his easy-going nature into outright laziness and irresponsibility, but doesn't let on to the fact that he's working hard to prove his innocence and better the court system until the very end of the game. Phoenix even goes as far as to forge evidence for a trial and use Trucy to cheat at poker (his job as a "piano player" is a cover as he's actually very bad at it so that he can challenge people to professional poker) so he can remain undefeated. He uses Apollo without asking permission or telling him anything so that he can put the real murderer of Zak, Kristoph, behind bars.
While before Phoenix tended to be sarcastic internally a lot of that comes out. He'll take a condescending tone to irritate others, or he'll lead them on for the sole purpose of having a laugh. He doesn't really do it with malicious intent, just to be nasty, but he will rub someone's face in their own downfall if he doesn't like them or he believes they deserve it. He also seems to take great pleasure in jerking Apollo around (though in his defense it really is hilarious) and can flipflop between a flair for the dramatic (and Phoenix apparently is the only person in the game who does this intentionally) and an infuriating aloofness that belies a furiously working mind.
He's a total jerk, but there's a heart of gold buried in there somewhere still. Deep, deep down.
Strengths: Phoenix doesn't so much as have a physical strength as he seems to be comically HARDY. He falls from a bridge many stories up and into a rushing river and emerges with just a cold. He gets tazed and proceeds to appear in court later that day. He is beaned over the head with a fire extinguisher and as a result has amnesia, but doesn't need so much as a hospital stay. And most recently, he's struck by a car, flies thirty feet (this could be a ridiculous exaggeration on his part) through the air, clips a telephone pole with his head and walks away with a sprained ankle and a couple bruises. ...maybe he's just lucky. But no, no physical strengths.
Phoenix does have quite a bit of mental strengths though. He's extremely sharp and observational. While he does tend to keep most of his observations to himself, he picks up a lot just by watching how a person behaves. This gives the impression of him being a good judge of character, but really it's more that he can pick up on odd behaviors and says/does such radical things that he tends to rattle those around him enough to make their true character obvious. He's gotten into the habit of thinking outside the box; he's very good with detective work, and can rearrange scenes and situations in his head in order to locate the true culprit/a piece of evidence/a contradictory detail.
Phoenix's emotional strengths have changed a lot since his early adulthood. Where once he used to be loyal, kind-hearted and determined he's become extremely sly. He's quite good at appearing sincere, and fooling people into believing something completely the opposite. He's perfectly capable of lying through his teeth to benefit himself -a trait which, while not prominent, did show itself during his career- or his case and worms his way out of having the blame placed on his shoulders. He can be cunning too, and appreciates the art of discovering as you go. As such he tends to lead Apollo around with cryptic advice and little nibbles of clues because it's more fun to see him squirm and then shriek when he figures it out, rather than just blurt out the answers for everyone to know. He likes to see people reach their own conclusion -or rather, the correct solution that HE discovered- through means of evidence and reason.
Weaknesses: ...uhh, as much as the average person who doesn't really exercise. He walks everywhere (or takes a taxi) because he doesn't have a license but he never goes out of his way to stay in shape. He's actually sort of pathetic when it comes to athletics and complains about being tired pretty frequently, most likely because he's lazy when it comes to physical exertion.
Phoenix's mental weaknesses are few and far between, but one that can be noted for certainty is his stubborn nature. When Phoenix latches onto a topic he will gnaw it to the bone. And then he'll take the bone, bury it somewhere for safekeeping and then bring it back up. This makes it very frustrating to have an argument with him because sometimes he just can't seem to let things go. Phoenix tends to hold grudges.
His emotional weaknesses seem to run in the same way; Phoenix was betrayed about seven years ago and he's become nearly obsessed with proving his own innocence as well as completely ruining the man -or men- who put him in that position. He spends years collecting evidence and piecing things together to get to the bottom of the case that ruined his career and it isn't until the end of Apollo Justice that he finally has his revenge. He's also grown somewhat detached, sarcastic and generally a hassle to associate with unless you earn his loyalty. Then he's slightly less of a hassle but the benefits sometimes outweigh the inconveniences.

First Person:
Sorry to bother everyone, but looks like I've been misplaced.
I'm in the forest...can't tell exactly where. I'd walk myself back to safety but I've sprained my ankle and it kind of hurts. If anyone'd be willing to bring me some crutches -maybe shoes and a shirt while we're at it- that'd be great.
[That and he needs some grape juice. Right now.]
...oh, and if I could get a place to live.
And maybe a meal. The food's free here, right? I could really go for a steak dinner, or maybe some lasagna. Or even just burgers.
So if anyone could help me track down all the above, that would really be swell.
Third Person:
His ankle hurt, his back hurt, he was half-naked, lost and completely out of juice.
Other than that, Phoenix thought he was doing pretty well. He remembered Luceti, just barely; some weird dimension or nexus or whatever. People from all different planets were dumped here with a set of wings and little to no explanation. Well, except for the guide.
Who was it that wrote the thing? A woman, something Sage. He'd have to look it up later, maybe dogear the damn thing. Maybe it had changed since he'd last seen it, or maybe it had only been a few weeks since he'd last been there. Of course, he was almost ten years older. The last time he was here, he'd just defended Edgeworth.
How long had it been since he'd talked to him, anyway?
Well, he could think about that later. More importantly, it was too cold to be outside for long so he had to find shelter. As he saw it, he had two options available to him:
One, he could call for help. If he remembered correctly there were tons of people in Luceti who were the types willing to throw themselves into oncoming traffic to save a kitten, so getting some support to make it to the village would be easy as pie. Phoenix didn't remember if he made friends with anyone the short time he was here before, but that hardly mattered when everyone was so accommodating. He was sure someone would be well-meaning enough to escort him to safety, maybe even give him a place to crash until he got his own apartment. Man, it would be nice to not have to worry about rent for once; one perk of this place, at least.
Two, he could hobble back to the village himself. This was much less desirable than option one, mostly because there was absolutely no benefit in trying to get to the village alone. It wasn't as if he had any pride, and who wanted to shuffle through the wilderness when they could have someone shuffle alongside them? Possibly someone who would bring him shirt, shoes and service as well. Phoenix turned back to the ground and leaned over, unearthing the vaguely familiar journal from beneath a pile of multicolored leaves.
How did it work again? Oh, yes.
