I love my crock pot. I really, really do. I made apple dumplings last night. I got the recipe from this link:

My adjustments:
replaced stick of butter with 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup water
replaced cup of sugar with cup of splenda
replaced mountain dew with diet cherry 7 up
You couldn't taste the artificial sweeteners at all and I can't imagine from my experience that it would ever need more butter. Also, calculating the numbers, each dumpling works as a single carb for diabetics (at least gestational diabetics - 15 g carbohydrates), and that is with my using the Pillsbury crescent roll dough. I'm pretty sure that P and I could have eaten the whole pot last night. I will absolutely make these again.
