Vampires. >_>
We invented the vampire as a monster. Their immortality through murder and bloodshed is a condemnation of greed, selfishness, and the cowardly fear of death that would rather cling desperately to a low and parasitic form of life than gracefully accept human mortality. Their strength and speed fueled by life stolen from others is a warning against the hunger for power at any cost. Human culture invented them and over the years has continued to reinvent them because they have always been a symbol of what we must fear, hate, and reject in ourselves if we are to avoid corruption and ruin.

Now we're making them all pretty and giving them great big hugs. Does anyone else think this says something creepy and worrisome about the way our culture is leaning?
