Orla sat next to the edge of the lake. She stared out over the water. Everything seemed so peaceful. Why couldn't life always be like this? she thought. THe day had been peaceful. Nothing big had happened, everything seemed to be calm and peaceful again. She liked it, she missed the days when Hogwarts was a peaceful place that all could feel safe ( Read more... )

Cho was beginning to feel the walls close in around her. She wasn't quite sure why but she had a sudden urge to escape outside.

She was walking along the shore of the lake when she turned in toward one of the alcoves and noticed a girl sitting alone.

The girl turned to look at her as she approached. "Ohh, I'm sorry if I interupted your solitude."

"Oh no problem. Actually I was just about to get up. I've been sitting here for a while and figured I should probably get inside." Orla replied as she peered up at the girl.

"Alright," Cho said looking at the girl thinking she looked familiar.

"Quick question, what's your name? Mine's Cho."

Cho thought maybe an introduction would refresh her memory as to which house the girl was in.

"Oh, my name's Orla. First year Ravenclaw. Aren't you a Ravenclaw too? I think I've seen you around the common room before." Orla said with a slightly confused look on her face.

She knew she knew this girl but wasn't sure from where.

"Ok, I thought I recognized you," Cho said. "I'm in Ravenclaw as well. And, if you havn't seen me in the Common Room, I'm sure you've watched me on the pitch." Cho glanced over at the field wondering why she had decided to go for a walk instead of flying.

"oooooo" an expression of recongnition crossed her face. She had remembered Cho from the several Quittach matches she had been to. If Orla remember correctly Cho was a very good player too.

"So where are you off to?"

"Nowhere in particular. Just out for some fresh air." Cho leaned back and inhaled deeply acting as if she hadn't breathed in weeks.

Orla chuckled slightly as Cho inhailed.

"Well do you want to take a walk around the grounds since neither of us seem to have any place particular to go?"

"Sure," Cho said. Anywhere was better than that stuffy old castle.

"My only request is that we stay away from the green houses."

"dido!" replied Orla. Orla personally wasn't to fond of the green houses, they were always to hot for her.

"Do you know any place good we could go? I'm still learning my way around the grounds. I only know a few places."

Cho really didn't have any place in mind.

"Not really, I'm kind of in the mood to let my feet take me wherever."

"That sounds good" Orla replied. Orla turned around and the two of them started to head in the direction opposite the castle.

Cho walked silently for awhile listening to the symphony of sounds that surrounded her. Eventually, she spoke.

"You said you're a first year? How are you liking Hogwarts?"

"Yeah, it seems pretty nice. I've met a lot of nice people but with all that's been going on with the deaths and stuff I sometime wish I was back home with my parents." Orla stared down at the ground as they walked, glad that the silence had finally been broken.

"I wish I could be home with my parents as well. My brother has 'gone missing'"

Cho glanced out over the lake just in time to see a tentacle rise up out of the lake and slap the water hard enough to a fairly decent wave rippling across he water.

"What? What happened?" Orla was in shock. She couldn't imagine if anything were to happen to any of her relatives. She really felt bad for Cho.
