Anyone got any idea on how to make fairy wings for rainbows? Ours want to do it next week in preparation for their promise party the week after, and we foolishly agreed without actually having an idea on how to do this!

Rainbows = possibly a bit too small for the coathangers+tights sort of fairy wings.

I rather suspect that card would be your best option - to be decorated with paint/glitter/sequins/pompoms/anything else available - and tied on with ribbon or string, rather than attempting to faff with elastic. If the wing-shape were mounted onto a thin(ish) band of card with a hole in each end of it for the string/ribbon, the wings could be tied on almost like a belt. [It is very hard to write out what I am visualising, I think it'd work though...]

When I did it with our brownies last year I found that the wee pink coathangers you can get for children's clothes in Woolies and the like worked quite well. Possibly you might want to have the frames (two hangers taped together) already done for them. I then pulled a knee high tight sock over the frame and the brownies set to work with glitter, glue and paint. Let me know if you want more precise instructions.
