Abuse

"Abuse: The intentional and malicious causing of physical and/or emotional harm or pain to another when such treatment is not justified or warranted."

"Abuse: Intentionally malicious or willfully negligent treatment that causes pain to another. Abuse can take the form of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and/or financial/resource abuse. Abuse is used or exhibited consciously or subconsciously and nearly always for the purpose of gaining power in some dynamic of the relationship between the abuser and the abused."

Those are two different definitions of abuse (people abuse, not drug/substance abuse). I'd really like to hear reactions about these two definitions, not so much about which one is right and which one is wrong (unless you have a firm opinion as such), but moreso how you feel about the perspective and understanding of abuse of the person who wrote each definition. If you feel comfortable, I'd like you to include your own definition as well.

It's very important to me that as many people as possible respond to this post as possible, with as much explanation and elaboration as you're willing to give.

Love,
Tonia
