Oh, Jesus Christ, I am so sorry. My grandfather died right before yuletide's dead-line last year and after I dropped out I... completely forgot it existed. I am, yes, a year later only finding this, and I only found it because I was using LJseek to find something else. There are no words I can express how crappy this was of me -though I'm sure you know- and while I hardly expect to be forgiven I wanted you to know I wasn't responding because I hated it, just because I hadn't seen it.

Actually, far from hating it, this is easily the best story I have read in the entire year since you wrote it. This:
It was only until the cycle of the moon had passed that the boy was able to realize the monkey was the treasure the gold had led him to that day sums up so much, and it's so sweet and just. Really well executed.

Apology accepted and you are absolutely forgiven. (And I'm sorry about your grandfather. That must have been so terrible.) I was really bummed when you didn't respond, but I'm bouncing off the walls happy now. Since I'm not doing Yuletide this year this comment is like a Yuletide present in of itself.

And I'm really, really, really glad you liked your story in the end. :)

Oh good grief, I butchered that comment too, but I'm glad you got it. Oh HECK YES. I... have to admit that for all I'm truly sorry about how miserable never hearing anything must have been... it was such a day brightener that it definitely still feels like a gift.

If it makes you feel better, the story got an extraordinary amount of comments on AO3 (and still gets comments!), so I was far from totally miserable, even back in 2009. :)
