What if NASPA announced tomorrow, that on Jan 1, 2013, we'd all be switching to Collins and the five point challenge, and we'd be doing away with having rated OWL events? How would this affect you?
Would you be sick to your stomach, or jump for joy?
Would you be okay adding a pile of new words if everyone else had to?
Would you quit Scrabble forever?
Would you stop playing for a few months to get acquainted with the new words?
Would you keep playing and learning at the same time?
Would you start learning in advance, and hope to have a jumpstart on everyone?
Would you giggle with glee playing words like MOFO# (awesome!) or would you shudder if your opponent played TAUIWI# (WTF!)?
In my opinion, switching all of us together at the same time in 2013 would be the best case scenario. I think a lot of people might quit the game for a short while... possibly the same people that freaked out at ZA and QI being added to OWL, but hopefully everyone would need to cure their Scrabble jones and eventually come back and try out the big list. I am guessing a majority of people would be okay with the change, if we ALL did it at the same time. I would like to know what y'all think.
