When occasions call for gifts, such as Christmases and birthdays, my friends always find it difficult to think of what they could give me. They always tell me, “What else can you want? You have everything!”
It may be true. I may have every THING, but at the end of the day, what makes a person really happy are the things that do not come with a price tag - simple things that make life meaningful and worth living.
The excitement of coming home after a day of work. A pat on the back for a job well done. Spending time with friends without counting the hours. Knowing that there’s someone you could always count on. Having a friend who needs you more than anyone else in the world. Being appreciated for tirelessly doing acts of kindness. Being able to touch other people’s lives. Little surprises every now and then.
If having every thing means missing on all these things, then I’d be very happy to give up every thing that I have.
On a lighter note, I’d like to acknowledge the following people who are also celebrating their birthday today:
Happy Birthday!
To all who greeted me, from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much!
