I've lived through enough technological innovation that this type of thing should be old hat by now, but it amuses me that I finally upgraded my portable flash drive and I've got something about a quarter the physical size and a quarter the cost that has over 30x the capacity of the old one. Didn't come with a lanyard though; I'm reusing the old one. Some folks might not need one, but a) I cannot fit another goddamn thing on my work keychain and b) I need some way to find this tiny thing in my gigantic purse.
I'm not even going to think about how the iPod I'm going to buy soon is probably more powerful than my old HP laptop. It was bad enough thinking how far my first smartphone outpaced our first PC.
