Anti-OTP: Henry Fitzroy/Quincey

Aug 15, 2008 17:23

When nightfall hits, Quincey goes out for one of his walks, heading for the forest. He's learned too well how dangerous the dark can be, but he's a hunter by his nature. The way to deal with danger is not to be afraid, but to go out and sidle up next to it, get good and comfortable with it. These days, he knows nighttime pretty damn well.

Henry comes trotting outside a few minutes later, head down and hands in his pockets, looking a bit distracted, also heading for the woods and not really watching where he's going.

"Good evening." Quincey greets him with a short bow, almost more like a nod.

Henry turns and stops, registering him and then recognizing him.

He inclines his head. "Good evening."

Quincey, lacking any sort of preternatural ability to see in the dark, and having only the fuzziest memory of Jonathan being bitten, has no idea who he's talking to, although something about this situation is a little unsettling.

"Out for a walk?"

"Yes, for a bit." Eyeing Quincey, he seems to decide that that suggestion has taken hold and relaxes, just a touch. "It was getting confining inside."

"That does happen," says Quincey, with a little, wry smile. "If you're the outdoors type, it's easy to get claustrophobic, isn't it?"

"Quite," almost amusedly. "I suppose you are the outdoors type?"

"Raised that way," he admits, readily. "I'm a Texan boy, so it's a requirement."

"Ah, yes. Should have recognized the accent." He sounds almost amused with himself. "I suppose I should introduce myself?"

A shrug. "If you like. We're not much for formality around here, if you haven't noticed, but it's always good to know who you're talking to."

He offers a hand. "Henry Fitzroy."

"Quincey Morris." Quincey's handshake is noticeably firm, though not crushing. "Pleased to meet you."

"You as well." A pause, and a slight eyebrow twitch. "Quincey Morris?"

"Yes. And yes, my mother had an odd sense of humor." He grins. "I have a sister named Letitia."

Henry sounds amused. "Not a bad name, I shouldn't say."

He has his suspicions, though. And realizes that really, it should have been obvious.

His grin broadens. "I haven't told you my middle name yet."
