Hosanna in Excelsis

Argh. Today was full of church. And none of it was anything I had anything to do with. I went to NYC for the day to see my assistant priest (someone who, admittedly, I'd like to get to know better) get ordained. It was absolutely lovely. The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is one lovely place. The acoustics are awesome, the windows are beautiful, and it has a million chapels that you can get lost in. (I don't know why that makes a good church in my eyes, but it does.)

Then, coming home, I was grabbed by my best friend/church organist to turn pages for him at a wedding he had to play. I haven't been to a wedding since waifofthenorth got married, and it was... nice. Tiny wedding of tiny, but still nice. I hadn't actually ever been to a liturgical wedding, so that was interesting to see. Got me thinking, but nothing enough to really worry about.

Now I'm trying to flash learn the Sanctus from Mozart's Requiem for tomorrow morning thanks to two recordings and this handy thing. Mmmm. Online midi files of parts. I don't want to think about the Kyrie yet. I really really really really don't.

Anyway. Back to singing.
