Ok! Welcome back. Doesn't sound too bad, does it? Well, at the very least, it's worth an inquiry, I thought. Could be awesome. So, I sent an inquiry. Fairly basic, with my resume attatched.
This is the reply I got.

Thank you for your interest in our market research efforts. We are expecting a large turnout,
and will therefore be running numerous sessions over the course of the next few months. We
understand that people do have schedules to keep, and we will make every effort to include
you in sessions during your requested time.
If you have not participated in a focus group previously, it is a great opportunity to try new
products and have your input heard. The product that will be the focus of our initial groups
will be a real estate income study. Basically you tell us what you think about the course
or product and get paid for it.
The study will consist of the trial of a Real Estate Income Course over the course of two weeks, with three separate meetings held before, during, and after the two weeks.
Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Compensation will be
provided and determined based on experience, each session is catered, hosted in a conference
room at a local hotel, and lasting between two to three hours. The session will consist of a round-table discussion with other participants, where you will share your thoughts and opinions on all aspects of the product.

Additionally, the promoters of this product are paying for product testimonials as part of their upcoming nationwide advertising campaign. If you are comfortable with having before and after pictures taken of youover the course of a one month period, you can sign the waiver at our first session. This is completely independent from the focus group though, and is not required.
... What the hell. That is -nothing- like what I applied for. That isn't even -close- to what I sent in an inquiry on. I know that everything on Craigslist is subject to being dubious, but this is even more dubious than usual.
Also, I'm tempted to apply for a census job, but I don't even know if I can get to the place where it all is. (AKA, the interview/test that you have to take to be considered).
Argh.
