Flooded FitB: Interruption.

This was a challenge for lateseasonlove. B/S, as usual, seriously tame, set just after Buffy arrives back in Sunnydale after visiting Angel. Lots of thanks to bogwitch, who is a perfect sounding board, for the support/beta.

Warnings: Mental health issues

Yay! :D

When she's awake!

I'm sure your dreams are very informative.

She was what she had always been, lost, broken, and standing in a run-down street.

She remembered now: this exhaustion, so deep her bones ached, could never come from travelling. It came from life, and life’s caring people, whom it seemed she had not been able to escape from.

Spike’s light presence meant more to her now, and at the same time meant nothing, like everything else. And therein lies the tragedy of Season Six. Where nothing and no one, including Angel, manages to lift her out of her misery until she's in the big hole with Dawn. And poor Spike tried so hard to be supportive but he just doesn't have the knowledge or conscience.
Very nice.

Thank you. It was hard getting back into this part of Season 6, so I'm glad it hit the right notes.

Very good. Season Six is such a perfect exploration of real depression, and you've hit it perfectly here. Poor Spike, trying to help, not quite sure what he's doing right, if anything.

Thank you. I loved the beginning of Season 6 (even if I took issue later on), so I'm glad I got it right!

Very bleak (in that good way). I enjoyed it. Very good depiction of Buffy's depression and Spike's attempts to be there for her.

Thank you. Spike tries so hard, which makes it worse (for us and him) I think.

Lovely depiction of Buffy's bone-weariness that does have moments of connecting with others.

Thanks! I didn't want her to be completely devoid of humour, because I think by this point she has moved slightly past that.
