On my third reading.... :-)

I started off thinking of it in a Memento way, then realised it was more Pulp Fiction...y . Not in content, mind, just time framing (and apologies about the film references - I need to read more!) Such an engrossing style!

Loving the addition of the Watchers and "Hallelujah" to the foreknowledge about Robin Wood.

I'll patiently await Part Two (in a checking everyday way...)

Third reading!! You are too kind; thanks for the lovely comments! I'm thinking I will try and get the second chunk up tomorrow, hopefully making good progress with fixing a couple of rough edges in the last chunk tonight, though I think that will go into next week.

And ha, you make me remember how fond I am of Tarantino storytelling. Not the actual stories in some cases (I have issues with the ending of Kill Bill and some bits in between), but the disordered episodicness, yes. There, er, may be some more Memento-esque stuff later (if I understand Wikipedia correctly), but not quite anything back to front...

Not so much with the kind as a bit slow and interrupted! I kept thinking I'd missed something - and mostly I had :-)

You should watch Memento if you can ever get a copy - and you've got a spare couple of days. It will do your head in.

Well, I'll take what I can get!

Memento does sound like the sort of film I would like, unless it's actually the film I'm thinking of that sounds similar which I saw on a plane once. Which I might have done. That film wasn't for me...

I should warn you, by the way, I think I'm going to have to write tonight and post tomorrow - I need to get this final chunk to my beta so she can read it asap, so it makes sense to finish it first for the good of the whole fic! And I'm away at the weekend, erggggh.

You're writing a very convincing version of Spike finding his old self, opting to put it on, call on his past, with reluctance but in pursuit of something very specific - and in response to others, too. I liked Dawn's role in that last action scene, doing more than is reasonable, as a reason for Spike to act.

And Buffy's feelings about the coat, memories and all, not hypnotised by a garment but still finding it evocative - very nicely done.

I didn't even say before, but, DRAGON. I should have known. :p

Oh, thank you! The story is very much structured around Buffy's emotional arc, but Spike has a huge role to play too (and Dawn, in a quieter way, and a couple of others...). Of all of them, I sometimes think Spike gets a bit vague towards the end of the real S7, so it's fun to have him think through various things ( ... )

I love this version of Spike putting the coat back on. It makes emotional sense out of it. I also absolutely love Dawn telling Lydia off for telling her where Spike got it from.

Yaaay!! I do like GID but some bits don't wholly go together, or at least don't quite go together with what I'm getting at. Dawn is v. cheeky (but Lydia deserves it - a bit). :P
