I am still way, way behind, as you can see, but loving every moment of it.
The Watchers are perfectly drawn. I'm glad they survived. They're really interesting. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing how the fact that Spike knows who Robin is will change things.
“The entire demonic underworld seems to think he’s a sign the end is nigh.”
Oh lol. Something tells me Spike would secretly be quite pleased by that ;)
I never considered before how much S7 Buffy begins to have in common with Travers. And it would no doubt dismay her to realise it. But I love the way you're teasing out a relationship far more of equals than it's ever been before. She gets so hardened, and she has to, but where it's taking her isn't pretty.
Ha! Yes, I'm sure he is. Ooh - maybe this is why his ego comes back in Angel S5? I think I'll stick with that.
The thing is with Travers, I know we're supposed to hate him, but if you look at things a little obliquely, as though the Council is actually the main engine against evil in the world (and everything that's going on not in Sunnydale/over a timescale of more than one or five years), he does make a certain amount of sense. And he's not really that unpleasant to her in Helpless. I need to see Checkpoint again to see if that makes more sense, though I remember him being a bit more dickish there...
And poor Buffy (again)! I don't think she really wants to end up like Travers, but she is a bit like him here, you're right.
Looking for sympatico with Travers -- that's never a good sign. And Althanea being his wife (or the inverse) doesn't make me trust her the slightest bit more.

Also glad you like the Watchers - watching Helpless last night I seem to have decided Quentin Travers is my fave now. Tralalala...
