Whoof!

So
stultiloquentia came to visit and enabled my meeting some (very & reasonably) local fannish people! It was excellent, to the point where I feel like I need to say something, but now that I'm here I can't work out what to say... I've known Stulti's online persona for quite a long time now, so having her around as a person was a fairly seamless experience, even if I am definitely not the world's most relaxed host and seemed to have clicked my brain over for the weekend into rant mode about anything and everything. (I like to think this is a stress response, where nerves breed excessive outpouring of my more negative and catty side, but it's possible I'm just a fairly negative and catty person, and fail to maintain boundaries with people I feel I know well. Am Working On This. Stulti is, by contrast, of a very positive and fair disposition, let the record show!)

I am definitely now more parlant in oldskool(ish?) LOTR fandom and bandom than I was before (is 'parlant' a word? I could have sworn it was, but everything's telling me it isn't), and have to say that it sounds like LOTR people have long been having a brilliant time, even if they lack wisecracking vampires. And bandom is definitely more sensible in its premises when you realise that the AU music videos are already out there... I managed to garner support for my ace!Ethan/Ripper-in-1976 longfic, so I'm actually feeling quite energised to work on that after I've got something together for
seasonal_spuffy, which I need to have something for by the 17th and currently have no project I'm particularly feeling (eeep!!). This is nice, although at some point I need to start going back to the library and begin my uni life again post the summer (cannot believe we're practically in October again now).

Anyway, it was lovely to meet you, everyone, and do head towards writerconuk (*she encourages subtly, wanting all of her people in the same place*)! I think I need to go on more fannish meet-ups...
