As for flocking, I suppose I should, but part of me hopes this reaches Joss's inbox down the Bangel KGB grapevine. Not that it would give him any sort of pause, but it would be nice to know the pixels had reached his eyes.
I don't think Joss ever sees any of this stuff, no matter how much the extremist Bangels might like to believe he reads their arse kissing. At most, it'll get back to Scott Allie, who is pretty blameless, this issue being entirely Joss-penned.

Right now, I'm not hopeful. I think that both Joss and Scott Allie would be astonished to think anyone would see Buffy's behaviour towards Spike as not respecting their relationship (and 'respect' was the best Allie promised us). They probably think everyone is completely IC, whereas I feel like I'm being told season 7 never happened.

Exactly. I read BAF's transcript of the dialogue over on BuffyForums and TBH it reads pretty much IC, voice-wise. (Not trying to start the argument of whether Joss can ever write OOC voice - just that it doesn't seem like it's supposed to sound 'off'.) And it's like - this could be Chosen, beefed up, but it's really not. It could just be frustration and lack of time but after four whole issues of Bangel faff it's frankly depressing, because you know there's not going to be 'time' in any second of the next four months.
I'm not sure I made sense with my last comment - I think there was a vital sentence missing: to me the dialogue reads 'IC', but the actual things that are said seem completely out of place. That's my issue.

In Joss and Allie's eyes, Buffy not kicking Spike in the 'nads is sufficient evidence of Dark Horse respecting the Spuffy relationship.

I honestly don't think Joss cares. Or if he does, he relishes tears like candy. He thinks screaming = success. (I've seen producers and writers who admit that sort of thing. It's the "any reaction is a good reaction" school of thought". They would be wrong.)
I agree with this. Seeing Scott Allie say that he liked the Brad Meltzer space frakking arc the best 'because it upset people' was a big eye-opener to me.
