All 'Ya Need Is Friends...

This morning I woke up feeling under the weather but then even that wouldn't explain how much pain I was in. Up I got trying to look forward to a day spent trying to get up and over the pain hill. Anyone who has chronic pain knows what I mean by that. In the course of today I had one daughter hug me and tell she loved me, one daughter ream me out and the last tell me I beautiful while trying to beg a phone from me. All three served to tell me how lucky I am. How so? I have three amazing daughters. Each one different and lovely in their own ways and each one able to show me that my reason for being here was to give birth to them and watch them make their way in life.

Back to matter at hand. So I'm going about my day with the normal family interruptions happening and not feeling great when the phone rings. It's my friend and massage therapist Baldwin. "So, is it true that when you tell people jokes it takes their mind off pain?" So I tell him I suppose so, there is research to that effect. So off Baldwin goes with 20 minutes of jokes over the phone. Twenty minutesof me laughing hysterically. Forgetting the troubles I have. Did you hear about the field that has three holes? Well, Well Well. Okay, the other jokes were way funnier but that one just got my funny bone. Thanks Baldwin for being a good friend. Getting your mind off your problems is something we all need to do sometimes.

I took the four pages I've done for the kid's Social and looked at them. I love them. Really, I'm not trying to blow my own horn but they are way more interesting then my usual pages. I've done some sewing, used eyelets, ribbon, stickers and different charms and jewels. I love Basic Grey paper. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it can be used in so many ways that's it's invaluable to me. It makes a great paper to cut up and use in patches over your page, it's wonderful to make wee booklets with and of course it's a great paper for title backgrounds etc. The all round paper.

My other favourite item to use lately is my Sissex Sidekick. Now, I know I've probably talked about this ad nauseaum to everyone I meet and I've mentioned it here a couple of times but I've found this handy dandy little machine invaluable to me. It's small, easy to transport to crops and the dies run through it cleanly. I can't use the bigger Sissex it's harder to cut through the dies and after initial exictement over the Quick Cuts system I felt really let down. The Quick Cuts system works with a punch. What's wonderful is the amazing choice of alphabets they have. Beautiful. But if you have any hand weakness at all, kiss it good-bye. I was very disappointed with the fact that after three letters my hands couldn't keep up with it. A shame. I hope in the future they'll improve on it.

Time to get going, I'm dealing with a teenage girl in the throws of agony because she's the only one in the world without a cell phone. Hmmm. I wonder if we realize sometimes how much we allow our children to have gizmos they really don't need. We are a family with a cell phone. Emergency roadside use etc. but that of course is totally humiliating to a 15 year old who has every friend yapping on cell phone. I believe in working for something like this though so the deal is good marks, good behaviour in school and no skipping out. We'll see if it can be done.
