the lastest update from SB...
this really is the ghetto, it does exist even in a small midwestern city (town). on my run to the boathouse, through the ghettoist 'hood, a guy threw a kid's playground thing out onto the sidewalk, right in front of where i was running and his wife/girlfriend/insignificant other/mother of his children sped off in the minivan. apparently my neighbors across the hall think our dorm is the ghetto too...i fall asleep to the sounds of bass bumping every night. i can't deny that it though, there's a place in my heart for some of that muzac...'round these parts we like to roll out to slow motion and lean back.
classes are fine, if you like that sort of thing. my math teacher is from italy and the ta is from romania, and my irish history teacher is from no where else but dublin, ireland. today we watched a movie of the irish sport hurling, it was a stressful class...
rowing...well these coaches are pretty crazy, except for lil joe, my favorite. the girls are cool, they like to have fun which is great. i enjoy meeting the upperclassMEN they know.
i am at the beginning of experiencing my first home football game weekend. the week started out with the sales of "Muck Fichigan" t-shirts. tonight was a pep rally in South Quad, one of the most awesome, funniest things i've seen since i've been here. imagine a joe montana, regis filbin, and rudy lookalike (all nd alums), a group of boys doing a choreographed dance to a jackson 5 medley, and a crowd-surfing priest...tonight there is music blasting out of all these random quads and parties and things going on. tomorrow there's another pep rally, along with a showing of Rudy on the north quad. Saturday is filled with tailgating, the big game, and after parties til the wee hours of the morning. i can't wait...i just hope we win, cuz i swear there were almost suicides on campus when we lost last weekend.
as soon as i can figure out how to put pics into live journal entries i will. until then...peace out from the north side of SB
