So a co-worker was telling us about the last fight she had with her boyfriend, and why she's been feeling so bad for the past couple of days. Dunno what the fight was actually about, but in the midst of the back-and-forth came this charming tidbit:

I guess he was her first "real boyfriend", and they've been together for a while now. And I should point out, to be fair, that he's probably got some psychological issue over the not working because he might die thing.
And now that I'm done being fair, she could do so much better, because she's a nice, lovely woman. And yes, she should kick his sorry, deadbeat, self-pitying ass out the door and find herself someone who will treat her like she deserves.
I wish she would.

I have more stories, though, including him shoving her against a wall with his hand over her mouth, and one of him throwing her on the bed, and just recently of him telling her to put some clothes on because "no one wants to see that."
Honestly, she fights dirty, too, but all that means is that they need to split because they don't have a healthy relationship.
On the bright side, if he ever visits the restaurant, that'll be the end of him, because by now we have several clever plans on how to do away with him. One involves a lacrosse stick.
We're very creative, we waitresses. ^_^

That relationship sure sounds rocky. A friend of mine just got thrown out after ten years, the last of them being spent fighting almost non-stop.
The wounds have started to heal and I'm still convinced that all this hassle has been for the best end.
I hope your friend will reach the same conclusion. A relationship is supposed to lend a person strength, not suck it out of her or him.
