Can't...catch...breath... O_O

I can't believe it's almost the end of July already. I can't believe I've been doing all this fun stuff, and I can't believe what I'm about to do.

What's that, you say? What's Quill been up to?

So I went to Texas last month. So that was awesome in all it's Florida-like awesomeness. Got to meet some really adorable cats, got to try some really yummy food, got to play Wii and recommend some awesome anime to another enthusiast who actually has a taste for anime outside of InuYasha and Yu-Yu Hakusho. Even got to stay in a certifiably beautiful house.

Oh, yes. And got to meet a certain someone in person. Got to see a certain Econ professor's work-space. Got to visit an aquarium, and IKEA, and Galveston, which made me appreciate Florida beaches above and beyond the adoration I already hold for them. Even made it out of Texas alive (and maybe even had fun doing it ^_~).

I came back, worked a week solid, had an old friend come visit me, then worked another solid week, then got on a plane to Arizona, where I've been for most of the last week.

High points? No humidity, desert landscapes (and mountains! There were mountains!), seeing another set of old friends that I hadn't seen for a while, and most especially spending time with my family. Working (scraping, painting, concrete laying)  in the hot sun and not sweating up a storm. Staying in Navajo land and learning about Indian culture. Interacting with those adorable kids every night (including The Terror Twins). The mad dash through major airports in the hope of not missing connecting flights wasn't bad, either. ^_^

(And then, of course, there was the GRAND CANYON! It may --maybe-- be a great big hole in the ground (glares at Max), but it is the most awesome, awe-inspiring, terrifying hole in the ground I have ever seen. I took a bazillion pictures, and none of them are going to do the place justice. Nor did we have enough time -- my little sister and I have decided that we're going to go back, take that two-day hike down to the Colorado river, dip our toes in the water, then turn around and come back. *squee*)

And then we get back and figure out that my sisters have lice, so we spend several days doing Rid and Nix and Mayo, and a ton of time combing through hair. The older of my little sisters has really thick, beautiful hair that is nearly impossible to parse well, so she takes so much time it's mind-boggling. I spend nearly five hours combing through her hair that second day.

Then, of course, I finally have to come home, right? Get back to work and into the grindstone? Right. Of course. So I get in my car on Tuesday morning to come home , and (after forgetting several things and having to turn around a couple times) fly down I-75 to make it just in time to scramble into my work clothes, fly back out the door, and be five minutes late for work.

I work a long shift. Don't close, but it was close. I come home, and remember about the notice I found on my door when I went flying into and then out of my apartment. Open said notice.

NOTICE OF NON-RENEWAL

Those. Bastards.

I have to be out of my apartment by the 22nd of August, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. They're just not going to let me renew. I've been here for six years. I don't give anyone any problems. The few times I was (unknowingly) in violation of my lease, they notified me and I took care of it immediately. And now they're kicking me out. When I inquired about why, I got some run-around, company-line, non-responsive, leave-me-alone-and-deal-with-it line about them not having to say why (which is true, but irrelevant as far as I'm concerned), and that the owner just sometimes chooses to get people off his property.

Seriously? Quill, just in case you were wondering, is pissed.

They put the notice up on the fifteenth, and I now have a little over four weeks to seek out, find, apply, and  get approved for a new apartment. That's just a smidge over four weeks. What...the...heck.

It's a lucky thing all the traveling I've been doing has been so awesome, because right now I'm feeling very uncharitable towards the management team here at Fairway Oaks. They can kiss my generous Puerto Rican proportions for putting me under so much stress.

*wails*  I haven't even been able to look at my computer for more than a few minutes a day!

What the heck happened? Life was supposed to slow down after graduation!
