Oh, I *like* the idea of Ochi deciding that Yashiro was his rival. He's always wanted a strong player to push him (the whole demanding Akira accept him as his rival if he won against Hikaru thing) and this gives him just what he wanted. *Very* fitting. And I love the advice his grandfather gave him, too.

*laughs* It seemed to fit - Ochi is quite skilled, and I think his traditionally based play could use Yashiro's wildness. And Yashiro could learn from Ochi's steady, determined nature.

Ooh, sweet! You've all of a sudden made Ochi much more sympathetic, and the idea of him and Yashiro being rivals just *clicks*.

Ochi is one of those characters you grow to like - he starts out as a little bastard, but by the time the manga ends, you've got to respect him. I respect him more than I do Waya, actually.

Thank you~! Oh, I really do like the idea of Ochi and Yashiro being rivals...and Ochi approaches it in such a characteristic way too. ^_^ I always love your minor character POVs for this fandom; you have such a way of bringing them to life.

Very glad you liked - Yashiro never really "spoke" to me much as a character, but Ochi is one of the ones who I wanted to see actually HAVE a good day, since he keeps getting defeated in humiliating ways!

Hikaru no Go is currently showing in our country/city right now (just started last monday, actually) and i really like that you know how to write the minor characters without them being too OOC. i will look forward to getting to know more about these two as the series progresses. thank you for sharing this. ^_^

I'm not sure if you'll see Yashiro or not - this is set during the Hokuto cup, which only appeared in a special.
