Welcome back, Aishuu :)

Wow, Quinn is really thoughtless sometimes. I understand her feelings for Finn, but to be so kind and friendly with him right in front of Kurt, who had been beaten up and was now continually bullied by the dude? Ouch.

Kurt looks up with a stunned expression on his face, his eyes wide and confused as he stares at her.

I liked this. Kurt often assumes things about people, and it was interesting to see a moment where it went, 'Wait, what, why is she...'

Kurt clears the room so quickly that Quinn can't help but laugh.

I laughed, too :)

I love your Quinn, in all her thoughtlessness, her fear, her still rather HBIC attitude, and her white-Christian-girl-raised-in-conservative-Ohio character. Thank you for writing such a fascinating series.

PS: I'm really happy that you used Planned Parenthood. So many people focus on the abortion issue that they completely forget that its goal is to plan for parenthood.

Now, because my curiosity is KILLING ME: do you know how far along the Glee timeline you're planning to have this story go? Because I'm very curious about whether you'll address the issue of Blaine, if they would even meet at all in this universe (Kurt's not being bullied anymore - a state that's probably going to continue or at least not be as bad, especially if Quinn and Kurt get married, and even if the bullying does ramp up again, transferring to Dalton with a baby to support is probably a no-no.). Much beyond the possibility of romance (though, hah, fascinating triangle), I'm worried about Kurt's support system in general, because Quinn is sooo definitely not the support system he needs for being gay in Ohio, especially now that the situation has become so convoluted.

Furthermore, I had a discussion recently with a friend that although society has been trying to help teen moms, there aren't a lot of resources for teen dads. So, basically... I'm worried about Kurt :(

Lol, you're probably going to address all of this anyways, as you always do. You have me so invested in these characters' story :P

It's good to be back! I hope you've been well.

I like to see Quinn's selfishness is still coming across, and your perceptions of her character are what I'm hoping to convey. Kurt is as out of his depth as she is, but he's more internal about it.

And I was a bit nervous about using Planned Parenthood (since it's a real organization and I usually try not to "advocate"), but it was necessary.

I'm planning on ending this story about the time of the birth of the child. I have a lot of little "future ficlets" in mind which I may never actually write, but hell yes Blaine is bugging me - they would definitely meet, although not in the same way.

And yes, I'm definitely addressing the "teen dad" thing if I ever write the sequel-ficlets.

And your faith in me is reassuring, but maybe misplaced because I do like to leave some loose ends because life never wraps up neatly...

But even an acknowledgment that there are loose ends, even if they're never explored, is better than never realizing they're there in the first place. So I still don't think my faith in you is misplaced :)

I was rereading the previous parts, and I have a quick question: the settlement that Kurt gets from his mother's death (I'm going to guess she died in some sort of accident?): is it one lump sum or something that is added to every year? Because I'm still kind of confused about how the expenses will work out, since kids are expensive, Quinn probably isn't on her family's health insurance plan anymore, college, etc., or if Kurt and Quinn are just slightly optimistic because they don't completely understand how expensive life can be (Quinn moreso than Kurt). Maybe I'm thinking wayyy too long-term.

(Also, have you read this essay? I'm not sure if it's completely applicable to the fic, since here Kurt has a trust, but it's still pretty interesting.)

Kind of you!

I work at a law firm, and one of the things I do is draft trusts for litigation settlements. I wrote that section before season two and we realized how small the Hummel house is. I was going for Kurt being upper middle class (due to his wardrobe and the Navigator....).

My headcanon is that Kurt's mother was a dermatologist (because it fits for me). I'm assuming she was killed in such a fashion that a lawsuit was brought... example, she was hit by a truck driver for a large corporation ("deep pockets" which could afford the settlement). A dermatologist makes a lot of money, so they'd calculate her expected life's income ("lost wages") along with pain and suffering to figure out damages. I'd think the settlement be mixed. There would be one large lump sum, and a couple of annuities purchased (i.e. the regular income that would continue into the future... think of it like winning the lottery and choosing to get the prize over 20 years rather than taking the lump sum once). The trust would be established and with the size it is (likely at least a million, though if his mother was a dermatologist, it could be several million... I calculated it out as $4 million total worth - likely there would be a $1 million lump sum or so, and some fairly significant streams coming in via the annuities...).

As for the trust management, if the trust was over $1 million, it would be almost certainly be managed by a bank since Kurt is a minor. They'd invest it and due their best to keep it whole. Even with the serious dip in the stock prices, the body of the trust should be very nice. Quinn's father is fairly well off (indicated by their house), so it'd take a lot of money to shock her (which Kurt's trust did).

I bet you really regret asking now. :)
