Theodore/Luna for the Party Fluff Challenge

Jan 01, 2007 11:35

I know I promised gabrielladusult a Richard/Gabriella snippet “by the end of the weekend,” but then I remembered that I was supposed to write a party scene for the fluff thread at The Sugar Quill showing two pairings - one pairing being one I had never written before. I chose Theodore/Luna and Mr. Lovegood and Cory Smyth (eudorahawkins OC) So here it is before the party ( Read more... )

This is wonderful fluff! Luna and Theodore Nott is certainly not a pairing I would ever have thought of, but I can certainly see it working the way you write both of them.
She stared at him a moment as if trying to judge what he really wanted to know. He stared back because there were so many things he wanted to know - like was Luna as glad to see him as he was to see her? Why hadn’t she hugged or kissed him when she first saw him? And why the London Bridge for a party?
I think that sums up the pair of them so nicely - two people trying to really know and understand each other. And LOL at the Giggling Gin: I agree with Thoedore - the prospect of Luna on that stuff is truly alarming.

I love the way you have shown Mr Lovegood as being so delightfully impractical about various things: he would greet a rampaging crumple-horned snorkack with aplomb, can sack editors for not being open enough to strange creatures, yet is totally unable to deal with ordinary drinks at a party! He NEEDS a Cory in his life, the dear man!

Luna was raptly staring at Cory as if Cory could give her the answers to the universe and Cory was practically shoving him away. “We’re just going to have a bit of a witch’s talk, you understand?” This section was wonderful - two women who seem to be total opposites, yet suddenly reach a perfect understanding. (Reminds me a little of Molly and Fleur.)

I enjoyed the way you handled the two couples - four people each had to learn to understand each other as individuals, and then each couple had to reach an acceptance of the other.

I'm glad you could understand these characters from this little snippet, since I kind of dove right into Theodore/Luna, picking up from my other story.

I'm glad you liked the Cory/Luna interaction, since I didn't know if it was too abrupt to bring those characters together. But Luna is a forgiving soul and once she found *someone* who understood about dancing cheek-to-cheek, then she was willing to work with her.

The Lovegood family dynamics are fun to think about and then the backstory JKR gave us about Theodore not knowing his mother, really brings up some intriguing possiblities. Plus, I think Luna needs a self-sufficient Slytherin to take care of her - and the self-sufficient Slytherin needs someone who will soften him up a bit. Ah, fluff - that's the way to unite the houses! LOL.

Thanks for reading!
