More applications have been sent. My goal for the day was ten and I only made six, but I'm done. When every application makes you fill in the same information over and over again, there is a limit as to how much anyone can be expected to handle. Of course, one of those applications wasn't serious as I doubt NASA would want me for an astronaut. But, honestly, how could I possibly resist the one step I can take toward my goal of being a space colonist? I also, not included in that six, applied for seasonal work with the IRS. Some money must be made by me before the month is out or November is going to be dicey.
The Sclumberger thing turned out to be not in Austin. She never said where but when I said I wasn't willing to relocate she went into her patter about keeping my resume on file. Also, the position was in Oilfield Services. I will not be directly involved in raping this planet. No matter how much my dad might thing that a job is a job is a job, I honestly wouldn't be able to do that, good experience or no.
Other stuff: My apartment is now set up to the point where I will no longer be purchasing things for it. This is good. I now have a lovely unfinished rubberwood table (for the low low price of $189 - about the same price Ross and I paid for our unfinished beech table from Ikea). I also have a basic unfinished pine bookcase that is already completely full. This is alright as I haven't actually read a good number of the books so I shouldn't feel the drive to buy more (quite yet).
This morning, I went to a practice session with Austin Taiko. The group is more sophisticated than Shofuso was, as they actually have different parts to their music. I basically just sight-read some stuff with them. It was fun. And they have a big drum. I want to play with the big drum. Unfortunately, they don't have enough room in their practice space to accept more members into the group. If a space opens up, they rehearse Wednesday and Friday evenings. I'm assuming I wouldn't have to go to both. I'm hoping I wouldn't have to go to both, since I still want to try out some other activities and I'm rapidly running out of time slots.
